teaching my granddaughter to quilt
1 Attachment(s)
My granddaughter is 9 years old and wants to learn to sew. We have made simple things like hair scrunchies and pot holders but we decided to make a quilt for her to use while she reads. Reading is her 'second favorite thing' to do. We are using a bunch of fat quarters given to her by her aunt. We chose the Lucky Star pattern. I made the center stars and did the cutting but she gets to choose and sew the colors on the borders of each block. She gets to iron too. We have 16 different blocks done and have 4 more to make. I promised her a trip to the quilt shop to pick out the backing fabric of her choice when we get the blocks sewn together. She is very proud of her work.
