I finished one this morning from a small dish I found at Goodwill for 49 cents. here are the other 3 sets I found for 1.49 each. I love the cup with the silver filigree.

That is just a very cute idea... On my to do list

sandpat 11-27-2008 03:40 PM

Those are really cute! I'd probably put it on a table and my darn cats would knock it off and break it  ....but I love them, of course I love the old tea cups too. Oh that reminds me...I had forgotten that I have my Mom's antique tea cup collection up in my attic..!!!

Janstar 11-27-2008 05:54 PM

they are really pretty...love your pincushion

dojo36 11-28-2008 09:27 AM

so cute. what is the best thing to stuff a pin cushion with?

babeegirl 11-28-2008 09:41 AM

I'm using good old polyfill stuffing. I'd love to find the emery powder that keeps pins sharp but I can't find it anywhere.

Very cute.

Have some antique cups, but would be afraid to use those, so guess I need to go to Goodwill too. Maybe when and if I have a real sewing room, I will make some - more for display than use. Very nice idea though.

Well, the finished one in the dish has to be re-done. Nitwit the Terrible (my cat) got hold of it in the night, pulled the pincushion out of the dish and dropped it in the sump pump. He also got caught stealing my bag of puffy peppermint candies this morning. That's just not right.

Awwww...he was just trying to help you, Mom!!
As for the peppermints...he had bad breathe!! lol

babeegirl 11-30-2008 07:48 AM

he's a little hellion this morning. I guess his little hoo-haw's are starting to kick out the testosterone. Me thinks he's going to be spending the day in his cage contemplating his transgressions against pincushions and Christmas candy.

tlrnhi 11-30-2008 08:51 AM

Aww....be nice to him! Poor little thing just wants to help! :)

LOL
Yea, she likes to do things like that. Heck, there's a bunch that like to bring old threads up to "wet our appetite" lol

Tippy....check out thrift stores. Best place to find teacups.

How freaky is this.....

helped a mate move house over the weekend, and she was about to throw out two teacups and saucers. I grabbed them, they were too cute to biff, but had no idea what to do with them.

Now..... all I need is someone to tell me how these are made! :-)

RedGarnet222 03-30-2009 09:35 AM

Oh this is so nice! Are they going to be gifts or sold? I bought a cup and saucer to do this with as a gift, but, the painted pattern inside was so nice, I just gave her the set instead. LoL!

I have seen these made into little night light lamps too. Good for you that you acted on this idea. I know everyone is going to love it.

Have you ever read the book," Making Fabulous Pincushions", by Jo Packman? Anyone who sews would love this book.

BlueChicken 03-30-2009 10:25 AM

I searched in here and found a link to a pattern, but it's in French. :?

littlehud 03-30-2009 05:53 PM

So cute. I need to visit my Goodwill. I can always use another really cute pincushion.

june6995 03-30-2009 06:10 PM

here is the link.....to one....

We discussed this several years ago. I have some teacups and a bag of steel wool. Now I have to find something for the top of the pincushion.

Very cute! Ya'll always have the best ideas. I'm a magnetic pin holder girl myself...but these are very cute. Definately like the silver cup too!
