I have an old table cloth that was at my parent's house when they passed. It was horribly stained and brown and sueisallaboutquilts told me about Retro Clean.
I ordered some online and soaked the table cloth in it. The first picture is how it looked even after washing it, soaking it, and rinsing it many times. The other picture is how it looks today on my table for Thanksgiving after using Retro Clean. It worked wonderfully!! I am so happy that it's been restored. I will put it away for my daughters and use it occasionally. Maybe even make it into a quilt someday. (it's a little puffy in the middle from being ironed on a narrow ironing board.) |
Thanks for mentioning this tip!
What a lovely tablecloth! It's so nice that it can be used and appreciated again. It's nice to bring out the special things for the holidays! |
Holy cow talk about a reason for purchasing a product. that is living proof. I am glad you have gotten it back to life.
Oh my goodness my mom had one just like that!!
Wow, that's impressive! How nice to be able to actually use a cherished remembrance.
OH WOW!! Now that is a difference and very nice! I've seen that, well one like it before. Very crisp and clean looking!
What a transformation. Amazing. Thanks for the tip.
Wow! My MIL had one similar to that. I'll have to go through her stuff and dig it out. I though it was done for!
Thanks for the memories.....:)
Thanks for the tip! Will have to order some and try it out on some stained work clothes. Hopefully it will restore them so that I can wear them to work again.
Beautiful table cloth! I've seen several at flea markets that were pretty but badly stained. I'll be looking at them with new eyes now. Looks to be a great product. Thanks for sharing the photos.

I have an old tablecloth that is 50 yrs. old. Got it for my wedding shower. It has some stains so maybe this will help clean it up.
Retro Clean -- a reason to be shopping on Black friday, LOL! Tell me where to find it, please.

Wow,, I have a table cloth some where in the linien closet that was either my mother's or grandmother's and I will have to look that stuff up and try it. I bet it would look great if I tried it on mine. THanks for the tip. Huggies, Fay

Wow! I haven't checked the link to see the cost, but that is exactly what I need for some embroidered linens from DH's great uncle!
Thank you for showing the before and after pics, that table cloth is beautiful :D:D:D

I have a recipe that was given on TV years ago by a women who works with antique/vintage christening gowns and fabrics. It's called Maryon's Secret Elixir and can take the spots out of leopard without harming the fabric, so she says. I have used it on baby clothes with spit up stains and it removed them. I gave the recipe to a gal who had a quilt that had cat spray stains and it worked miracles when she used it.
Maryon’s Secret Elixir for Stains 1 Part Clorox 2 Powder 1 Part Dove Dishwashing Liquid but has been sold to Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid(Use the creamy white version only according to the rep at the company) (example--2 tsp. each for one small item or 1/4cup each or more in a tub for a large piece like a quilt, You may need to experiment) Mix together in the hottest water the textile can stand. Rinse and repeat if necessary. I used a small basin to soak a baby receiving blanket that had formula stains on it and it came out clean. Good luck in saving your textiles. |
Amazing differance !!
Thanks for the flashback. We had that tablecloth when I was a kid.
Amazing the difference. and I remember my grandmother had a tablecloth like that . I think we wore it out, seem to remember a hole in it! But it was that pattern. What memories. Thank you. So glad you have this one and were able to reclaim it so fantastically.
Thanks for the post. I've had some very nice linens sitting in storage because of stains. Now I've ordered this and hope it works the same miracle for me as it did for you.
What a great product. I bet it would work well on stained table napkins as well. That is the one reason I don't use them more. Please let us know where to purchase this miracle product. I know my adult children will want my old linens now.
OMG, such a transformation. Retro clean is awesome. I am so glad you were able to restore this treasure. You just don't find linens like this anymore.

It shows an example of a fabric and lace doily that was brown and is now white. Other people commented that it worked on knits too.
Thanks for sharing. I love your vintage tablecloth-way cool!
I'm so happy that your tablecloth has been renewed with Retro Clean! Thank you for posting the results. Business picked up today thanks to you spreading the news. Here's a link to the website www.retroclean.com .

Thanks for a great product. I didn't think anything would clean it after I tried washing it and soaking it already. I have some other linens and old hankies to use it on too.
I have a bag of this sitting in kitchen for a few weeks now. Have not had a chance to use yet..
Love your results. |
WOW! That tablecloth came out really nice. I'm going to have to remember the name of that RetroClean.
