Love it! Where did you get the pattern. I would love to find one like that.

Thanks everyone! :) I didn't use a commercial pattern, just decided what size I wanted the finished purse and worked out the dimensions, I cut all the pieces about 1/4" larger and then after quilting trimmed to:

Front and back: 10" L x 7 1/2" W
Bottom" 10" L x 5" W
Sides: 7 1/2" L x 5" W (trimmed to 5" on the bottom narrowing to 2 1/2" at the top)

I did make a paper pattern for the flap lower edge shape, I started with about a 10 1/4" x 9" piece and cut to pattern shape, 2 layers of Hobbs batting and the fabric top and back, sewed around the three sides, turned right side out and edge stitched and then outline quilted the flowers/leaves.

The polka dot pink are pockets on front and back, the strap has 1 3/4" polka dot fabric and 1 3/8" of the main fabric so when sewn on each side and turned right side out the bottom fabric curls up over the edge. One layer of batting in the strap, and edge stitched in the ditch. D rings on small tabs sewn in the seam of the sides/lining, and small covers over the strap ends. The lining pieces all cut 1/8" smaller than body pieces (and even then still had to re-sew to get it sized enough to not bag [too much] on the inside).

I hadn't thought of feet on the bottom Tartan but thanks for the idea (I do have some pink polka dot buttons lol). :)

Cute, definitely cute…great job on constructing without a pattern. It came together nicely and will be a wonderful accessory to your spring wardrobe. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, that was my thought too. I looks like you just bought it off the shelf at a fine boutique. I had not thought about feet, but I agree that little feet would be not only charming but also would help keep the bottom clean. A lovely effort. The next Vera Bradley is among us! ;) .

You did an outstanding job and I'm amazed you did it without a pattern too. I agree, you are a professional.
