In case you don't remember, I started to make a Thomas the Train quilt for my boss's grandson who just broke his leg. His name is Thomas and he thinks that Thomas the Train was named for him.
I just got the Thomas the Train quilt top completed. Now just the sandwiching and quilting and the treaded binding to go. Sorry for the messy room, I'm trying to organize my stash and haven't gotten it all put away. Thomas Quilt Top |

|
Awesome! :D He is going to love his new quilt :D Good Job :D
|
OHhh That is fantastic!!! Thomas will absolutely love it!!! What better way to mend a broken leg than with a great big smile and a wonderful new quilt!! You're a dear for doing it for him!!
|
Just got the blocks quilted and tomorrow night (if I get done with work on time), I'm going to quilt trains in the sashing. Wish me luck!
Anyone have a suggestion for how to quilt the borders? I'm stuck there  Thanks |
How about railway tracks?
|
Super!!!!I think any little boy would LOVE this quilt, especially one named Thomas...very cute!!!
|
Are they trains embroidered? They almost look it. I am currently hunting for Thomas designs in embroidery (.ART) for my Bernina.
You did an awesome job. |
Wonderful work! Lucky boy!

Not embroidered. Appliquéd. Can't get that "Quote" thing going. Sorry |
Wow quiltinlee - That looks soooo realistic, love it!!
Did you know that this character originates from the U.K. but we know him as Thomas the Tank Engine, and my son who is now 24 absolutely loved him.....so you have brought back lots of fond memories...I made him a cake for his 3rd birthday, just like your image, it took me hours and I never noticed until after we had the photographs developed, that 'some little person' had been up and taken a 'bite' out of his front wheel!! Perfect set of tooth prints as evidence could be seen on the picture lol!!! Thanks for sharing!! :D |
Thanks Lee

Hello QuiltinLee. What an achievment for a little boy with a broken leg. Hope he loves it to bits. Because the borders are so busy how about just doing a zigzag. This perhaps would illustrate the way rail lines go across country, not aleays being in a straight line.

Right now I'm doing little trains in the yellow and red sashing. The train tracks is a wonderful idea! Thank you!!
|
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute with his face on the engine!!!!! What a great idea!
|
