This is what I've been doing for the last several hours. These are in the 8'' hoop. I will dissolve the stabelizer away in water then they will be stitched down on a landscape quilt. I have 2 of Nancy Prince's books and read them cover to cover. You can also see some demonstrations from her on The Quilt Show. I don't have an embroidery machine so this will work for me. It was easier than I thought.

These are my first attempt at people.

Simply amazes me! This and decorative stitch thread painting (Karen Linduska) is what really made me want to learn about quilting!

Thread painting is a lot of fun. Yours looks great. And would you find the characters you needed in a program for an embroidery machine. I have done it both ways. I enjoy the thread painting more because it is actually my work, not someone else's.

that is great i used to do free hand embroidery on my machine it always amazed me
