Oh thank you Lara. The antique little rail fence is silk I think--and have no idea how big it is, but it was enough for me to fall in love with it. If each strip was 1" finished then the overall quilt would be about 15 x 20; a nice doll sized quilt. Would love to have it as my own, so sorry can't tell you what for backing was used. Do you see the irregular fringes? Maybe it had a silk knotted fringe on the sides.

Thanks, T. They are each special to me in their own way. I have dedicated the cot quilt (muslin strip quilt) to an ancestor who followed her husband into the American Civil War (1860's) as a battlefield nurse, so thought a great deal about Lydia and how her life was changed and how she was changed by caring for the wounded and dying. But yes I really like the rail fence too!
