Cute block!

LOVE it - do you know what the background fabric is? I have been looking for fabrics with text/writing on them and most I have found have more of a tan background.

That looks like a four patch, with the little square added on top. Is it appliqued on?

Thank you.

As to the background fabric, print on the salvage shows it designed and produced exclusively for Joann fabric and craft stores ™ I know what you mean, this fabric was a real find. Matter of fact need to get some more. ;)

It is a great block. Fell in love w it 20 + years ago when I saw it in a vintage quilt magazine. Center is not applique it is sewn.

Google 3d bow tie block and you will find free instructions on how to sew one.

Thank you FabQuilter for the link. I have 2 quilts with these blocks-the first one was all but finished. All I had to do was match and buy the borders 30 some yrs ago and I recently found a completed one. I have looked for the instructions in quilting books and mags in libraries all over the country and then on the computer-never thought to add the 3D to my search these past 10 yrs I've had a computer. So now I'm wondering if I can get into Ripley's as the longest brain fart in history. LOL

matraina 01-11-2015 04:49 PM

Oh, how cute!
