I got all these books and magazines for just $12.00 and I also found an old white sewing machine and table for $10 bucks but cant take a pic cause its to heavy for me to unload by myself!! All the books are in great condition don't think some of them were even used!

cutebuns 07-10-2009 09:26 AM

That is great, I think I mgiht have to hit the thrift store, or even the used book store to see what I can find

STAR 07-10-2009 09:31 AM

I just couldn't pass them up!! they were all fifty and twenty five cents, a few were a dollar. I figure even if I only get one pattern or tip out of each of them then it was worth it. Also check to see if your library sells used books and magazines i 've found some that way before also.

Sweet! I love thrift store finds! I'm dying to hit the ones near me but summer time is hard with the kids at home. I'm hoping to sneak out tomorrow and do the rounds... It's been a long time since I've gotten out of the house except to take the kids to and from vacation bible school...! I'm starting to feel shut in!

Star, what part of MI are you? I find lots of great quilting items up here in the Traverse City area. Bought my daughter a vintage, aqua blue sewing machine last week for 15 dollars. It looks almost new! We tried it out and WOW what a wonderful sewing machine.... My other daughter wants me to keep an eye out for her. Thrift stores are my favorite place to shop...

kluedesigns 07-10-2009 02:49 PM

what a score - enjoy

Star

What a lucky girl you are, I bet we won't see you now as your have your nose in the magazines

I love American Patchwork & Quilting magazine - my only chance to get it if I'm lucky is at our big show here in the Summer, I bought 4 copies last year for some other ladies I know who also love it. So all in all you got yourself a real bargain there & a table to boot too. HAPPY SEWING :P

STAR 07-10-2009 05:05 PM

Yes I am so excited that I found so much and my DH was happy for me to he is already making plans for a table he wants to make me!!

northernDeb- I am in west michigan, Holland. Did you go to the cherry festival? we have tulip time in may and there is a quilt show during that time, I haven't gone because its always so crowded.

quiktsRfun-yes I didn't even look at the dates on the mags til I got home I just grabbed them up for 25cents I didn't care what they had in them. So after I took the pic I realized that they were from the end of last year and the most current was JUNE 2009!! then I was really excited.
Thanx everyone I hope you all visit a thrift shop or two!!

loves2quilt 07-10-2009 05:10 PM

wow! great find :D

adrianlee 07-12-2009 11:58 AM

Good for you! I was at a thrift store yesterday and got a bag of fabric scraps for $1.50. About a 1/4 of of it are scraps that are good for making a shag rug but most of it have pieces large enough for a scrappy quilt and even a few 1/4 yard pieces. There were 2 other bags at this store and now I'm wishing I bought those too. I'll be checking this store again in the near future. Hubby even found a marching drum for $10.
