Thank you so much for the detail of getting the pattern.

What an absolutely stricking quilt. The border sets this off beautifully and to use all those (171) ties was amazing.
I'm awe struck on this one :)

That is really eye catching. When I read tie quilt I didn't know what I'd be looking at when I opened your thread here - but I'm glad I did look. Very interesting and all around nice.

Well, isn't that the cutest thing!! I LOVE IT! I've had some tie fabrics for some time but never new what to do with them. Too bad I don't have as many as you.

WOW!!! That is Beatiful. My DH has lots of old ties and I have been saving them for a quilt. Couldn't decide how to do them. What you did is wonderful and I love the border. Thanks for the idea. I am saving this thread in my Bookmarks.

Yes I the ties were prewashed. I also stabilized each tie with a very soft iron-on stabilizer. For the fan blades I used the small end of the tie. None of them bled or shrank as far as I know. I really didn't have a problem with that

Absolutely awesome!

I popped into the library to check out the Fons and Porter book and I just want to say that I am even more impressed with what you made. If I had just flipped through the book I would have passed their fancy fans right on by. They seriously need your picture in the book! I wasn't impressed with theirs at all.

And while I was out I just happened to get into a few thrift shops!
From three shops I grabbed 91 ties for $19.80. average .22 cents each! :D
When I die my kids will wonder why Mom was collecting men's ties!

Thank you so much for sharing. If I make one it will be a lot smaller than yours but I hope just as nice.
