A month or two ago, I posted a question about tying a quilt. Here are pictures of the lap quilts I made for the local VA. It started out as one quilt when I took a class to make a scrappy quilt. Then I changed to making 3 lap size. I had a lot of fun with this. Used the scraps from the initial center pieces to make the binding for one - is that a scrappy scrapppy binding? Also the backing for one was not quite wide enough, so I added a strip on each side from the scrappy binding to make it fit. All are a little different, one FMQ, one stright lines and one tied. I got lots of practice trying different things. Hope the pics show up ok.

This is the one I tied, Ties on back, but can't find that pic

You did a great job! They're going to love them.

Scrappy bindings are fun. These quilts are wonderful. I know someone who met a Viet Nam vet in a wheelchair who still treasures the quilt he received. We just don't know what these quilts mean to those who receive them.

Very pretty and good of you to make them, I'm sure they will treasure them for a long time.

Hi - I'm curious about how the VA will use your quilts. Would you mind sharing?

I know someone who just started working at the VA in the infusion center and I assume that they use blankets or the like to keep the patients comfortable during the procedure.

I was thinking that they might appreciate some quilts to use for this purpose but wonder if 1) they would be welcomed or 2) would create a sanitary or infections situation if they are used among patients. Some of her patients are undergong chemo and have seriously comprised immune systems.

Thanks.
