This is the first quilt I made for mom, she is a tea pot collector who ran out of space on her shelves for more teapots, so i made her a quilt of them...i have come a long ways since this quilt so made her a new one this year

Very pretty, I can't see anything wrong with it!! :D
mom doesn't see anything wrong with it either...i know it is just me, i see all the flaws ( in my minds eye) i just feel like i've come a long way in the past 3 years since this quilt so it was time for something new...
I have only been quilting for 2.5 years too, and understand completely about being self critical...I think most of us do, from a fellow 'obsessed' quilter
That is a awesome quilt good work
I love it!!
I love it too!!!! Looks wonderful!!!
And is that your sewing space too, how big is it? :D :D |
That's a great quilt! I LOVE IT!
What a great way to incorporate her love of teapots to a gift of a quilt. I think you did a great job on it.
Are the teapots applique, and if so where did you get your pattern? My mom also collects teapots and this would make a great gift.

Very Pretty ! And what a way to enhance Moms collection of Teapots

Very fun quilt! The peachy color is pretty.

it used to be my sewing space...i had a sewing school for a couple years, taught kids to sew, adults too, and quilted lots...closed up shop 3 years ago...the building i was in was spacious and i miss the space but the building was in terrible shape and after the 2nd flood i had had enough...
now i took over 2 bedrooms in our new house, one is a disaster, with sewing machine, cutting table, ironing board, book shelves, fabric shelves and this computer, the other room is the long-arm machine...it is all that fits, diagonally, when the granddaughter's come to visit they build a fort under the long-arm to sleep in because i put their bed's in the garage when i decided not to keep the room for them when they are only here 3-5 days a year  they really were not amused at first, but now, they love being able to make the fort to sleep in. |
Oh that is just darling. I'm wondering too if it's applique or a neat panel. I don't exactly "collect" tea pots, just have a lot of them that have come my way.

Very cute! Teapots or teacups are a great choice for quilting--I see so many fabrics that would look great! You did a beautiful job!
Very pretty! I love teapots too :D
the teapots are all appliqued, not a panal, found a book, loaned it out, never to return, but it had 16 teapots in it to applique, then i used my sewing machine to embroider the center, it says tea time and the date and the bottom corner (left i think) is another embroidered block with her name, the occassion (i think it was a birthday) my name and all that 'stuff'
she had told me (because i've been buying her a teapot for her birthday for ---ever---"no more teapots!!! i do not have anymore shelves for more." me, being the defiant one in the family could not resist giving her 16 more teapots  |
I love it! What a cute way to add to her collection!

I bet she treasures it too! Great job!
Very nice.  Are you going to show us the new one you mentioned in your first post?
Such a cute quilt. I'm sure she loved it. I think it is wonderful.
Cute quilt. Great way to give more tea pots!!!
i did show the new one ( the flowers for mother's day) before i showed you this one, the first i made for her...i saw them both, on her bed last night...the teapot quilt is better than i had remembered...i really didn't like it and had it in my head that it needed to be replaced...
it really is quite nice, she loves the new one too though, maybe now that she has 2 she will use one...it has been a disagreement since she received the first one and refused to put it on her bed, i even threatened to take it back. do any of you have that problem? i am always hearing, oh that is too good to use... well i made it to fit your bed for a reason!!! get upset about the recipients not wanting to use the quilts. |
I love your teapots...so fine indeed!...no wonder Mom loves them so much....:-)
How pretty, what a great idea. Did you design the teapots?
That is wonderful! I love all the different ones. I have a very small collection of teacups and saucers, all in roses, and one teapot. I don't know where they are, probably in a box under the stairs.
There are patterns for teapots, plates and thimbles at: http://www.fatcatpatterns.com/for_her.htm |
Thanks Pam, I bookmarked the site.
I like the teapots!! I've only been quilting about the same time frame as you and wholley agree with your feelings about "first" quilts. Its funny that what I was soooo proud of a year ago, now I think looks bad..yours does not look bad to me...it looks great!
Love the teapots. Great way to keep giving her teapots...that you got to design. :D
Ohhhhhhhh I LOVE IT
