I just finished four more I had almost done. I like to cut the fabric at one time, then pin, sew the first side, and turn inside out for the 2nd round, then finish for the 3rd round. It's manageable with my life that way.

I have to say I add lots of steps from those directions... mostly ironing at every step. I held a standard pillowcase up to one and it's exactly the same size. Yea.

I love, love, love the batik border on the moose/fish fabric. Kennedy and I had a hard time matching colors on the running horse one, but I finally found something.

I've decided to go $15. I can always come down; they'll always make great gifts.

Cute pillow cases. I have not made any pillow cases yet. I will have to put some of those on the to-do list!!!

Those are beautiful, I like your choice of colors, too. Do you use the "burrito" method of making your pillowcases?

Well--it sort of looks like a snake to me...

tired of pillowcases? no way!! I love your fabric combinations. Great pillowcases and I am pleased to see you are asking $15.

sewnsewer2 10-27-2008 07:25 PM

Great pillowcases! I love them.

Quilt4u 10-28-2008 01:42 AM

Great job. Love the out doors look.

tlrnhi 10-28-2008 05:15 AM

Great job, Karla! Love the fabrics! Pillowcases sew up so easy! I think once I am done with this last quilt, I might make a few more pillowcases.
I'm going for $12 for mine, that will be the rock bottom price, won't come down on it. I am so hoping to sell EVERYTHING!

fabricluvr 10-28-2008 06:19 AM

love those! they'll sure sell! i made a couple of christmas pillowcases last night, with the french seams. they are quick and easy and give a great sense of satisfaction!

MelissaK 10-28-2008 09:08 AM

There was a lady selling them for $20 at the craft fair I did two weekends ago and I thought that was too high. I don't think she sold any either. I think $15 is perfect!

Dodie 10-30-2008 06:57 PM

you should not have to come down those sell for 25.00 a pair here

bearisgray 12-02-2009 09:01 AM

You are asking $15.00 each?

Seams reasonable - The body takes about 1-1/8 (depends on how one cuts it)
and it takes about 1/4 to 3/8 yard for the cuffs/trim/hems.

Nice.

Cute cases. I like the fabrics you used.

I love those . I made some with the pink cancer society ribbons on them. it was a kit i got long ago. i've made a few like them to match quilts since. keep going, make more, make more.

I Love your pillow cases. They are very tastefully made and it sounds like the construction was perfect. Good luck on selling them out. I hope you do very well.

I learned that method this past summer. A lady at a quilt group I joined showed me how to make pillowcases using that method and I love it. No exposed seams. And it goes so fast.

Janstar 12-02-2009 05:56 PM

Great looking pillow cases Karla! Good luck! Your price sounds fair although I've seen them sell for $25.00 a pair.

n2scraplvr 12-05-2009 04:40 PM

The burito method is that the same as the hotdog method?

I agree! I miss Marcia! Mamagus--how are you?

BYT--this is a really old post... but this is funny because I did recently post more pillowcases. The new one is buried and the old one emerges.

Enjoying retirement to the fullest! Lots of family around and doing loads of sewing. Losy our little schnauzer in May but we still have our sheltie. How's Buddy?

And when I scanned the replies I also just saw one from Terri. How is she doing? Where did she end up? I miss all the 2008-2009 people!

barnbum 10-29-2011 04:02 AM
