Too Darn Cold!!!

It's so dang cold, I'm risking sun fade on the backs of some quilts by hanging them over the windows. Yes, the shades are fully down & the plastic is up but it's time to break out the Tapestries. The hot pink & navy Whirligig is the only solely mine quilt, the other 3 are Blockswapper quilts. The row quilt is on the wall.

Neat display! Is that a barn quilt from Beeinmybonnetco. Barn-along series?

GailG 12-11-2013 09:42 AM

Beautiful quilts! And a great way to keep warm. Here we sit in the mid forties and thinking it's cold. We have no idea what you are experiencing. You have found a to cozy up and enjoy your work at the same time.

I've never heard of the company. My BlockSwapper group made & exchanged 6.5" blocks with bright fabric and a common black with small bright dots fabric background. I made the design myself after my Grandma & Grandpa's barn's shape and each barn has a different hand embroidered weathervane. I'm glad you like it.

Really awesome quilts!

Your quilts are beautiful; and I'm TOO coooooooooooooooooooooold here in Ohio, too.

cpcarolyn 12-13-2013 07:15 AM

Great quilts.

Shorebird 12-13-2013 07:18 AM

Great way to use your quilts……..PS - there is a film you can put on your windows that filters out the UV rays - no more fading from the sun on anything……..easily removed too...

mjhaess 12-13-2013 09:52 AM

Nice quilts.....Hope they help to keep you warm. It is a cold fall..Scares me to think what winter will be...

ManiacQuilter2 12-13-2013 09:57 AM

I would put a layer of batting between the sun and your quilt. Those are beautiful and I would NOT want to see any sun damage done to any of them !!!

JanieH 12-13-2013 10:20 AM

Fantastic quilts; love them all!

GreyQ 12-13-2013 11:02 AM

The quilts are:
Spinner
Tomorrow Is Another Day
Merrily We Row Along
Barn Quilt

Never let it be said that quilts have to be on beds to keep us warm. At one time my son used his quilt as a drape, as well as a method to keep the sun out. No worries - I made the quilt when he was 12 and he was about 35 at the time, and that quilt went with him when he left home and when he moved back - twice. He and his sister were both boomerang kids, they left, but they kept coming back home.

I remember doing that back in the 70's and early 80's when we lived in southwest Missouri and heated with wood!

QUILTNMO 12-13-2013 03:58 PM

all of them are great!!!

QM 12-13-2013 04:29 PM

I use quilts on the windows all the time (partly because I have very little wall space). Very little sun damage.

Annaquilts 12-13-2013 04:33 PM

What a happy place. All the colors light up the place.

solstice3 12-13-2013 06:56 PM

Lovely pieces

cwessel47 12-13-2013 11:05 PM

I also insulate my house with quilts when it gets like this. Good to look at from a different perspective and they make me feel toasty even if the thermostat doesn't say so. You've got some beauties to contemplate here. Lovely work. The red starbursts in the second quilt is just fabulous!

adnil458 12-14-2013 03:32 PM

Those wonderful quilts should brighten up the dreary, chilly winter. Quilts are meant to be used, great use :)
