Same here, when I started I was using sewing scraps. First quilt had Indian print bedspread fabric, lining fabric, whatever. It was used on our bed. Over the year I must have replaced 50% of the pieces.

I love to see quilts that have been used up! The love lingers on somewhere.

I encased it in new fabric, but it just wasn't the same. He was so sad, I asked him if he wanted to give it to a doggy who was cold and needed it. We went to an animal shelter and he picked out who would receive it, and everyone was happy.

What a wonderful way to handle a child’s sadness. I still have the quilt my grandma made me 30 years later. It’s a carefully folded (to hide all the stains) display.

That must have been difficult to take out blocks of an already quilted quilt. It looks terrific. I'll bet your daughter is very happy.

so happy for you that you were able to restore it. It is back to being a wonderful quilt. Can see why your daughter loves it.

Wow you did a great job repairing the well-loved quilt. I hope it last even longer this time.

You did a great job. I visited my brother recently and came home with a quilt I made him many years ago. It is falling apart. I think I will cut it down to crib-sized to give to charity. I have repaired other quilts, but this process is not my favorite or my best work. Kudos to you!
