Totes

I am currently obsessed with totes!! I made my first one 2 weeks ago. I made 2 more this past weekend. Third one is the charm - that one I am currently using!
The first one I like (made with charm squares), but while I did use batting in it, it is floppy. I didn't add interfacing to the pockets I added to the inside, and I placed the pockets a little too high. I used leftover 100% cotton batting. I won't be using this one as my purse. The second one has 6 pockets formed around the outside. It had a few problems, I am not wild over the colors, and it is a little bit too small for me. But I did use fusible batting in it, which I really like. The third one - I really like this one!! Straps are a little long, but using fusible batting for the purse and Pellon 808 inside the pockets - works wonderfully. :o |
You did a great job on all of them. I especially like the colors in the second one.

Pretty totes! I make mine all different sizes too.

Lovely bags. I also enjoy making bags.

They are all very nice...... hope you use them all as variety is the spice of life.

Nice work! I especially like the pink flowered one. Enjoy yourself, but don't burn out on one thing. Last year I made about 40 market totes with a few friends to sell at church craft sale. Enjoyed it, but had to switch to other stuff before it really got to me. This year I'm trying to be more varied in what I make for the sale.

Great totes!

Totes are one of my favorite things to make for gifts. Yours are beautiful, by the way.
I use drapery or upholstery fabric for most of mine, so I just add a lining and pockets and I'm done. I've discovered that the fabrics that have too high a polyester content to suit for quilting make great linings and inside pockets. I had some that were sort of crisp and slick (and not really very pretty either), but coordinated nicely with the upholstery fabric colors. Sorry I don't have pictures as they already found new homes before I got around to taking pictures. |
Your totes look great...love the Vera Bradley items inside.

I'm a bit less enticed by Vera now! :o Figuring I can make whatever it is I want - plus I get to hand pick the fabrics, etc. And finding fabric I love on sale - even better!! I am a happy camper!! |
Beautiful totes. Thanks for sharing.

Nice totes. You'll find that every one you make is a learning experience. Keep notes so you can make ones with all your new knowledge.

Nice work!

Have fun, I make lots and lots of totes as well. I have done 100's of them and probably only 50 quilts.......

Have a Blessed day Ellen |
they look wonderful!!...great accomplishment!
|
They look fantastic! One can never have too many totes/bags!! :)

I love to make totes too. I give them as gift bags now. My family and friends love my "gift bags!" I make matching wallets, change purses and make-up bags to go inside the tote. Sometimes I even put a quilt in a tote.
