Our EQ7 Group (Missoula Electric Quilters) participated in a fabulous public art project. Our community members submit designs to be applied to the numerous, gray traffic boxes at each intersection. The committee decides on the "winners" and the boxes are decorated. We submitted two designs and they were both accepted. We designed a one block quilt representing mountains, trails, popular icons in our valley..."Missoula Quilted" The second one has blocks that represent our heritage..."Missoula Heritage". We chose to have our designs reproduced in vinyl and professionally installed. We are thrilled with the results. More info: http://www.ci.missoula.mt.us/index.aspx?NID=899

Great designs, wish I could see them in person.

Wonderful idea to prettyup the landscape - and neat quilt patterns to boot!

Pretty!! Pretty!!!

Those are wonderful. In Lakeland Florida, they have the swans.... large swan figures all over town painted by different artists. They are so beautiful. Ocala Florida has the horses. I think town should have something to showcase their special features.

What a great idea to "decorate" your community.
Those boxes (and the big telephones ones as well) are usually a real eyesore. Can you tell me more about the printing on vinyl - Where did you have it done and what type of professional installer did you use? Thanks. |
Neat idea! Your designs are gorgeous too!
|
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
|
What a neat idea. May have to bring something like this up to our quilt guild.
|
Great, they look so good!
