I finished my Bargello! Thank you, Chele for posting a picture of your quilt. I wanted to do one as soon as I saw it.

Izy 06-30-2008 12:51 PM

woooowwwwww - I just love these bargellos, this is a particularly lovely layout, was it difficult to do??? :D

MaxineB 06-30-2008 12:53 PM

Not difficult at all. I'm new to quilting and I love bargellos. I made an error in typing...it's supposed to say Batik...not Batok!!

mgshaw 06-30-2008 12:53 PM

Beautiful and vibrant!!!

tlrnhi 06-30-2008 12:54 PM

Izy 06-30-2008 12:56 PM

Hey I have a dyslexic keyboard too sometimes, anyhow its great!!

I really might try this soon, I have been quilting for about 18 months and have learnt so much on here, isn't it great here!!

Harmony 06-30-2008 01:41 PM

Stunning! Nice work!

auntluc 06-30-2008 02:17 PM

I've never done a bargello. That's a beautiful quilt for sure. Is it different size squares that make the design?

quilterj 06-30-2008 03:05 PM

I love your bargello. I am in the process of working on one now too. Still have much wip on that though. I have a few things going and taking turns working on all of them.

Bevanger 06-30-2008 03:12 PM

WOW! That is GORGEOUS!....

Kyiav10 06-30-2008 03:30 PM

Bargello's are one of my favorites also and this is very, very nice.

BTW, you didn't make a typo....... The wrong key jumped up and hit your finger, at least that's what I tell everybody.

Elizabeth A. 06-30-2008 04:25 PM

oh yes it's very nice! It it done in rows where you have the whole quilt laid out or is it done from the center outward?

sandpat 06-30-2008 04:26 PM

Yummy!!!

nanmal 06-30-2008 05:33 PM

I really enjoy the color combination that you used. Makes quite a statement.

kathy 07-01-2008 03:26 AM

YEP! I agree with everything everybody said, that's a real doozy!

MaxineB 07-01-2008 05:52 AM

Bargello quilts are done by sewing long vertical strip sets of different widths in about 17 colors. Then these strip sets are cut horizontally making a chain of 17 squares, one of each color. These chains are then sewn together in rows. The key is that these rows all start at the top with a different color so it makes a wavy design. You never actually sew little squares together! It just looks that way. I'm not good at explaining. It's clear in my mind, but you're probably more confused. I hope that gives enough info for you to go to the web site & read the actual instructions.

Thanks for that link, I sort of understand better, it's for sure something I'll need to read again later (over and over again ;) )

auntluc 07-02-2008 03:26 AM

I saved the link to my favorites so I will have it. I plan to make a bargello quilt and this size would be a good one to start with. Thanks for providing that link.

sandpat 07-02-2008 04:15 AM

Thanks for the link Maxine. I've shopped at Seaside Quilting before and had forgotten about that free pattern. I'm definetely going to have to give the bargello a try. Yours really is pretty.

MaxineB 07-02-2008 04:51 AM

Thanks for all the positive feed back! We should all try to post pictures of our quilts. I have made 3 quilts that I saw posted here. It's helpful for new quilters to see the finished products and get ideas about color combinations. I don't often comment, but I love the help and inspiration I get from all of you! :D

Quilt4u 07-02-2008 08:39 AM

Wow I just love the colors and the quilt.

Chele 07-02-2008 09:18 AM

It's gorgeous! You did a beautiful job. Love your batiks!

huggyface 07-02-2008 11:11 AM

nice, I would like to try it but, all those little pieces, how long did it take you?

jbsstrawberry 07-02-2008 08:36 PM

Beautiful!!! You did a wonderful job!!!

MaxineB 07-07-2008 03:34 AM

Not long at all. It's not little squares! It's a series of strips sewn on the veritcal then cut on the horizontal. You only work with strips.

Dawn Hendrix 07-07-2008 04:51 AM

OO very pretty.. I like you absolutely LOVE bargellos.. now that I have done 1.. it was sooo easy wasn't it?

Great Job!

I keep looking for new bargello patterns to try now.

bj 07-07-2008 09:55 AM

Beautiful! I want one too. Guess I'd better quit scaring myself out of trying it and get busy!

huggyface 07-07-2008 10:26 AM
