I can't believe what some people throw away! You did a great job Eddie and I bet your MIL will be thrilled :-)

So sad that someone so carelessly threw this out. Many years ago I found two on top of some trash buckets. Family was moving and I will post pictures soon. The fabric was very old and was shredding so need to do a little repair work.

Eddie to the rescue! Good job!

I agree, it is beautiful!

Beautiful quilt.

Unbelievable how someone could toss that in the trash! Some people have no idea do they. Eddie, you did a great job on the quilting. I know she will love it. What a treasure!

Love it! One of the fabrics in picture 2, next to the navy blue, looks very similar to one in a quilt top that my Grandmother made in the late 1930's or early to mid 1940's. I inherited the top from my mother, who inherited it from her mother. My Mom then tucked it into a drawer for 30 years! When my Mom gave it to me, I rented some time on a longarm machine and quilted it before I had any idea what I was doing. It looks it :D, but I am very satisfied with it anyway, because it looks better with my quilting than it looked in the drawer. We use it when my 'grands' are here. My niece and I pick our favorite fabrics as part of her 'tuck in' ritual.
So glad you quilted this for your MIL. You created a memory! Write the story of the quilt down and ask your MIL to keep it near the quilt so the story isn't lost. |
How lucky your MIL was to find the quilt and care about it. She is very lucky to have you to quilt it for her.

That dumpster dive gets a wonderful reward.

Love it!! Great save! You did a nice job quilting it for her!
