Treasure Island
5 Attachment(s)
This is one of those quilts that I believe would fall under the quote "finished is better than perfect". I call it 'Treasure Island' because first, it looks like an island floating on a black sea to me, and second it is so full of 'treasures'. The embroidery blocks are trial for new embroidery patterns...I've never known what to do with them, so I just saved them up. My DH does all the embroidery and he always does a practice. the rest of the quilt is scraps from many other quilts that I've done. It has taken over a year to finish, working on it off and on. It is king sized and has a double batting. This one is for me and I sleep in an unheated bedroom so I will soon need the warmth. Every time I look at it I think of one of the quilts that are represented here.

Gorgeous. I love what you've done. Evenly lovelier, that you share a passion with DH. So cool. I hope it keeps you nice and warm. I just want to keep looking and find new things. It sure is a treasure!
I really love this quilt.
Cute, it reminds me of an old fashioned crazy quilt!
I, too, like this quilt with its layout, connectors, designs, etc. My husband knows nothing about sewing / quilting, so be grateful for your spouse!

very pretty quilt
Thanks for posting! I have embroidery test stitch outs and I've never been able to discard them, even if the colors were strange. Now I think I can use them somehow!
Very aptly named and full of treasures indeed! It is like a Crazy quilt met a scrap quilt met an I Spy with all the different little features in it. Very unique and full of fun. The black and white polka dot sashing and binding adds an extra bit of whimsy while helping to unite all those fabrics, textures and colors.
Love the quilt and love the name. I enjoy naming mine also.

I'm rather 'dotty' about dots!

Love your quilt. I especially like how you coordinated the edges of your blocks with the bonding. Job well done.
Beautifully done!
Very creative. You should smile each time you snuggle under it... |
Lovely quilt- has a lovely 'old-fashioned' look.
It is so much fun. It does look a crazy quilt.
This quilt is absolutely lovely! You've shared some wonderful eye candy!
Very nice job!!!
Luv this - great idea!
QUESTION! So did you just stitch them onto a large piece, or is the surrounding fabric cut away under the pieces?
I would have never thought to put all those different things together, but you did! And it turned out to be one of the most interesting quilts I've seen. I need something to to with all my ME stitchouts and I your quilt has inspired me to make a quilt out of them!
Great idea and a very nice quilt!
Stray Cat, Sorry I didn't I didn't answer your question sooner. I appliqued each side seperately and cut away the excess from the back. It made for some waste but more scrap mean more scrap quilts!
Great quilt!! I loved looking at each piece. Love your layout and the binding also!!
