tried something new

I tried something new :) I saw the quilts with the ruching and I wanted to give it a whirl. I really like the quilts that have several rows of the ruching, but I was afraid. I just did 2 sections.
I think it turned out decent - for my first try. I put flannel on the back and the quilt is super snuggly Thanks for looking |
nice quilt.

It's always fun to try something new. That turned out really pretty.

The quilt with that ruching is adorable.

Turned out very nice.

Cute quilt!

It turned out really nice. I've also admired those quilts.
|
Very nice quilt.
|
Pretty little quilt...wonderful of you to try something new.
|
Like the colors in your quilt. Cute.
|
looks great... haven't seen the ruching before.
|
I love the ruching! I think it gives the quilt so much texture and dimension. Some little girl is going to go WILD for that quilt!
|
Nice job! Don't you just love the way new ideas just keep coming here on the QB!

If you used a polyester blend for the ruching, it would always look as if it just came off the sewing machine. 100% cotton will look flat in a short time, as if you had flattened it with an iron.
Cute idea and love the quilt. |

Really cute quilt, lovely colors.

Your quilt is so adorable. I have never tried the ruching technique. Is it easy to do & would you do it again?
|

Polyester blend fabric or polyester blend batting? Sorry if that's a dumb question-- I'm new to quilting :o

Very nicely done!!!

thanks everyone! I will probably try it again with more of the ruching rows.
I found this moda "crinkle quilt" that I sort of followed. I didn't do everything the same. I didn't do the pin on the end, cause I don't understand what it's for. And I only sewed one time down the middle of the strip. I think Moda said to ruffle on both sides http://www.modabakeshop.com/2012/11/...kle-quilt.html |
Very pretty quilt and colors.
I wanted to make a crib size quilt uses the ruching. Not so appealing now. |
Super cute! I haven't heard of ruching. Love to learn new things. Your quilt looks great!
|
Very sweet quilt and trying a new technique make it extra special. can you get a close up picture to show.
I want to try this too. Shabby Chic is one of my favorite styles and this would look great with different strips of cabbage roses and soft colors. |
Thanks I would have been happy to take an up close picture.. but its gone now :) You are right - this technique would be very shabby chic

You did a wonderful job! I'll bet a little kid will really like the textures on the quilt. And the colors are great.
