Trip Around the Hemispheres Finished

4 Attachment(s)
Hi all, just finished my Trip Around the Hemispheres this afternoon. I think this is the first quilt I have made without any major puckers in it (YAY for glue basting). There are some minor ones in the borders and binding, though, but not many. Also, I haven't washed the glue out yet so there may be some glue spots showing. One of my expert helpers wanted to be in the pictures so I couldn't get a good shot of the top. No matter how many times I booted him off, he hopped right back up. This quilt also came together really quickly and finished at about 71" x77".

Such nice, bright colours. I'm going to look up the difference between a Trip Around the World and a Trip Around the Hemispheres. In the thumbnails, it almost looks like a bargello.

It was supposed to be a trip around the world, but the center strip didn't line up with any of the seams. I just made some rectangles and decided to call it a trip around the hemispheres instead. It was made similar to a bargello where I made strip tubes then cut them to size and took out the appropriate stitches to make the pattern.

Great job! I like the solution you came up with.

I also like your beautiful gray helper.

I think I like your "save" better than the "usual" Trip Round the World quilts.

Hooray!!!!!! for no major puckers! Second HOORAY for glue basting! I have yet to try the glue basting. Nice size quilt. Love the name you gave it. Now I have to say your expert quilt helper is so cute and made me smile. I have 2 experts myself. :)
