This is a lap quilt I made a few years ago before I started selling. I had more time then. This is 100% hand stitched. I didn't know how to use a sewing machine to quilt then. I used an invisible tie and tied at all the corners. It has held up over the years thru a lot of abuse!
My grandkids use it and it shows the wear and tear now but it cushioned the twins in the bins I used for bassinets when they were born and now they cover up with it sometimes when they stay. Some of the kids ask for it and some don't. It is an original design by me and I call it a Trip around Nine because it is the center of a Trip Around the World with Nine patches in between. |
Great work!! I have never seen this pattern before, interesting.

Kyia Simply quilts that was similar but she used two rows of the "Irish Chain" part between the trips and the nines. I have used smaller variations of it in lots of my billfolds. But that was when I was doing it all by hand and the blocks were 1/8" finished |
Great job....nice looking quilt :D
I like it! I've never seen this pattern.

this is a very pretty pattern, Rhonda. If this is a current pic, I would say, it has held up very well. You sure did a good job on it. :D
Very pretty!

How pretty!! Isn't it great to be able to look back at our "beginner" quilts and realize how far we've come and how much we've learned??

I made a lot of purses back then and you wouldn't have wanted any of what I made then. They were really not good at all. |

Very nice Rhonda. Sorry about your lost quilt! Baby was more important than the quilt, for sure. Glad you still have this quilt. Things happen and stuff is replacable!

I made a lot of purses back then and you wouldn't have wanted any of what I made then. They were really not good at all. I have not made but 3 full size quilts and that was more than 10 years ago. I pay attention to all the advice on quilts that I hear on here. Because actual quilts is not my thing so much. I have a lot to learn there!! |
Love your quilt but especially love the story behind it. Isn't that what quilting's all about? Anyone can go to Walmart or JCPenney and buy a blanket--you made a Quilt.
Very pretty and I love that pattern :D :D :D
Thank you everyone! I have always been partial to this design. I love the Irish Chain quilts too and they did influence this design obviously.
I love it! :D
That is a beautiful quilt.
Thanks Little Hud and Bev!
hey Rhonda - I love your miniatures but it's great to see a 'biggy' by you too! I love that pattern - might have to steal one day! :D
That is pretty.
I love your trip around nine pattern, did you write it down? I'd love a copy, I can also imagine it in other colors, would be fun. Nice job Rhonda! You are soooo talented!
Very nice. I like the colors and the pattern.
