I have been trying to attach. a pic. of a pre-cut quilt I purchased on-line. I don't think I will be able to put it together, I have never made a quilt, but really want to get started. By the way I bought this 3 years ago. It is a star kind of design lots of points. I will keep trying to get a pic. of it up. I know it is hard to give an opinion without a pic. but it has lots of points, so perhaps that would be enough to advise me.

Hi! look at the pattern, if it is/has "set in points", i would not touch it, without some guidance from someone near you that pieces/quilts.

IF it had you doing HST's(half square triangles) in the corners, you should be able to do it just fine. this is just my humble opinion.

Just my opinion, but this is an advanced begiiner/intermediate pattern. Unless you have experience with sewing set in triangles in other areas of sewing.

It also has bias edged pieces, that can be a bit tricky for a new sewer.

Maybe set this one aside and try a quilt or two that is geared for a beginner? Baby quilts are a nice way to get ones feet wet, or a wall hanging :D:D:D

exactly, you would not want to get frustrated and quit it all together..it is a beautiful pattern. Just no set in seams for a beginner..

D9P which is simple but effective,grows quickly and builds confidence!! There are several good tutorials on this board.

oh that is easier. half square triangles that make blocks are easier than doing triangles by far!

I would try doing just a simple quilt with just squares before you tackle this one that way you get used to the 1/4" seam allowance and all that and sewing in a straight line. then hit this pattern. good luck with it. let us know how it goes. and if there are any questions this is the place to go for them. I have gotten a ton of help with mine.
