Trying to beat the HEAT!!!!
2 Attachment(s)
In addition to 95+ degree temps here we have also had 70%+ humidity (not normal for our area) and so I have been doing anything and everything to get my mind off the heat. I picked up this pattern from Kathy Schmitz a few months ago because I was intrigued by the embroidery work. I haven't done any hand embroidery since I was a teenager.
I decided right away I wasn't a fan of the black and cream. In my mind when I think of winter, blue comes to mind. So this was my interpretation of the pattern. Now if it would only do the trick and bring us some cooler weather! |
I also think of winter in whites and blues :) This will be lovely ....<3you obviously have not lost your touch when it comes to handwork!!

quite adorable I must say

Really cute! Nice work.

How cute, and you're right, it has been hot. I just moved down from Oregon, where they're also having a hot summer. I've been thinking about doing some hand embroidery too. I think it was the first kind of hand work I learned as a child, and like you I haven't done any in a very long time. And I think I still have some of those very old embroidery skeins - yikes! I wonder if they're any good now.

nicely done
Nice work. My question: Do you feel any cooler?
Very nice job-did it cool you down??
Very cute!
Beautiful. I love it! I love your change from black to blue. Adorable. Thank you for including the pattern name and designer. I just might need to look this one up.
vey sweet...
I love hand embroidery. That is very pretty. I live in East Tn. and it is 70 degrees outside with the sun shining, and last night it got down to in the 50's. I am chilly. lol...We are getting hints of fall weather.
I love snowmen and your quilt is adorable!
Very well done!!!!
Thank you all. I'm happy to report it is cooler tonight & the forecast is calling for rain in the next few days. I'm working on the spring one now. I decided one color like black was not enough for spring and so am going with green, pink & yellow. Stay tuned will have photos on a month or so of the next one in the series.
I like your interpretation.
That is so cute and great job on the embroidery, work I love it.
Very cute! I too would have done that in blue, not black. You did a great job on it. Is the little quilt three dimensional .... is it "hanging" on the line? So darn cute!
PS: I just went and looked at the other three patterns. So glad you are doing them in your own choice of colors as I think they will look much better that way. |

I think yours is so much prettier. I love the blue and cream together.
Love combining quilting and embroidery!! yes, I always see blue as cold!
I am just north of you near the county border so enjoy this one day of cooler weather.
Cute pattern. I'm with you when it comes to using blue. If this block changes your weather, please post. It is raining hard outside and 80+ degrees inside right now.
Nice work....hope it made you feel "cooler". I live in NorCal.....Hot here too. In fact, so hot that anything to do with quilting is off my "to do" list right now. I like your color changes and your embroidery is well done. That's not a skill one forgets, is it?
Very nice work!!
I really like your color choices and your embroidery is so precise. Beautiful job!
Your embroidery is wonderful....nice wallhanging.
Very nice. I hope it did the trick in taking your mind away from the unusual heat.
