I used a lightweight pellon/'wonderunder"/stich-witchery......I don't know what you call it!!! It's an iron-on fuseable interfacing (?). You can tell what an expert I am!!! I won't use the lightweight again...didn't seem to stick as well as the medium weight that I used on a tshirt quilt for my son a few years earlier. I will get the medium again for the one I'm in the process of putting together. Thanks for asking!

The shirts that I have ready for sewing now are from earlier years which means they are not the same size. I have planned to do the smaller ones on both sides then fill in the middle rows with larger ones, trimmed to fit between those outer sides. If only I could find some sewing time!

Just spent the last month cleaning my sewing room and found tons of the medium weight fusible....what good timing....and WHAT was I thinking when I bought all that???

This quilt top is a collection of shirts from my husband and two sons.
Not trying to hijack your thread, just showing a different way to use different sized motifs to make blocks. The backing is black with gold musical notes and pieced with the John Flynn diagonal method. It's almost ready for the LAQ, a label and posterity.

Thanks for your response!! I recently finished another tshirt quilt using strips of tshirt for the sashing between the shirts. DON'T DO IT!!!! It was too stretchy! I'll never do that again. ONly fabric for sashing from now on. Have fun with your quilt. They always bring back great memories for each shirt!!

Thanks for heads-up on using teeshirt fabric for sashing. The red you see in the blocks is flannel and I will also caution--don't do it. It shrunk everytime I pressed, even though I had prewashed in hot water and dried it in a hot, hot dryer.

Next time I'll stick with 100% cotton for all construction pieces except the teeshirts.
