I purchased the large die in hopes of getting rid of some fabric. I decided to cut anything less than a FQ into these shapes. It is incredibly fast and fun to cut with this machine.

I used the free pattern that came with the die and this quilt is the result. You trim the odd shaped sides after quilting.

I am going to cut up my 1930's kids FQs and make these into quilt using this die. They will go to the local hospital.

I am not on a total no buy---just not buying to stack on my shelf. It must be for a specific quilt.

Beautiful quilt

What a pretty scrap quilt! I just used my tumbler die to cut out a quilt for my niece last night. It has Brown and pink theme. I love your idea of cutting anything smaller than fq with this die.

lisalovesquilting 02-02-2011 04:27 AM

It's beautiful. What a great way to use up small pieces of fabric. I like the one under it also.

I just finished cutting all my tumblers on the die...now to start sewing. used 11 different fabrics. I bought fabric with bird houses...and birds, flowers, leaves and branches...can't wait to see how it comes out.

Love your quilt!!! The tumbler is my all-time favorite! I made 3 quilts for Christmas using the tumbler pattern with 1930's repro's. My sister still keeps telling me how much she loves hers. Makes me feel so good.

A question about the die--does it work on the smaller Accu-quilt?

carolaug 02-02-2011 05:25 AM

Not sure. I have the GO Cutter. Joanne's Fabric has sales every few weeks for 224.00 - totally work the price. I hasl have a friend that bought one from amazon for the same including the shipping price. The time and rotary blades that you do not have to buy makes the Go worth the money. Joann's has a lot of the dies on sale this week. Here is a smaller tumbler die for the baby go. http://www.joann.com:80/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?pageName=search&flag=true&PRODID =zprd_10758720a

what a great idea... I packed up 4 large boxes and donated it to a quilter down south...
So my small scraps are gone.
Enjoy the Art!

I would doubt it but they have the smaller 3 1/2 inch one which does I believe.

Nice, I just had the template made at a local glass shop. Now to get the material. I think I am going to do it in pinks, and browns and blues. Can't wait.

I am laying them out...they look nicer in person...hmmm...when looking at the picture I wonder if they all go together. I now wish that i had one more bird fabric. Oh well...time to sew them together.

I am amazed on how easy this is to sew!!! I just finished my first row....oh I admit it...I did sew the first 4 wrong and had to use my seam ripper...totally my fault...well back to sewing.

How large are the individual tumblers? I just might have to give this a try. I do not have the Accuquilt but I could do it from a template. Thank you. Dixie in AL

carolaug 02-02-2011 10:34 AM

6 1/2 tumblers...too bad you did not live near me I would cut them for you...the Go cuts them all in half hour.

I saw that video several days ago and I was trying to decide on whether to get the one for charm squares or the one for the layer cake (OR BOTH). LOL Your tumblers didn't look like 5" but I couldn't tell just how big they were. I do have a lot of charm packs that I have ordered through the years so the 5" might be the best choice for me although the 10" would really make up quickly. What do you think? Dixie in AL

someone posted a tut to cut tumblers out of 5" charms...looked very easy. I too have the tumbler die for my studio and it is a fun quilt to make. I also purchased the smaller one for baby quilts.
