Tumbler quilts

Do you ever want to just sew without thinking much? It is a perfect activity for me when in our motorhome in the winter. I decided to do some tumbler block quilts. One is random of mask remnants plus some backings. I cut and cut (with my Accuquilt), and it seems to have not made a dent in my scraps! The other two were made out of a lovely layer cake I bought on sale; I just chose some coordinating solids. The two layer cake quilts just got a simple meander with the binding sewn with a feather stitch. The scrappy version got pebbles 1-3” in diameter and a binding applied with a serpentine stitch. These will be donated at a RV rally we will be attending this summer.

I like simple quilts. Yours are beautiful. My personal favorite is the green one because I'm partial to the color green.

Simple sewing is a relaxing moment. I don't have the tumbler template but I have hundreds, not kidding, hundreds of "bricks" cut out. Guess I should just start building a quilty brick wall and get them off my shelf and into someones arms. Thanks for the inspiration, CanoePam.

Great tumbler quilts...I know exactly what you mean about the feeling of just piecing without having to think too much. It is very rewarding and relaxing to just sew pieces of fabric together and ta dah...a finished quilt.

My favorite is the last one as I am a scrappy person. I made a large one a couple of years ago and donated it to our local church fall bazaar. It brought $400 in an auction type segment of the bazaar.
