This is the third bedsize handquilted quilt I ever made. I just finished it a few days ago. I call it tumbling tabbies. Even though it is only my 3rd there are years of experience in this quilt between all the wall hangings and little projects I have done, tied quilts and machine quilted quilts. Through this all I have learned:
1. Do NOT use cheap crappy fabric.
2. Do NOT use cheap crappy batting.
This has batiks in the borders and some of the blocks and solids and of course cat prints. It is traditional tumbling blocks pieced with Y seams. I used Hobbs Hierloom batting which is a cotton poly blend and it is backed in flannel.

Close up of quilting in the inner border. Also a batik. I don't like batiks too much do I? LOL

Thank you for your kind words and LOL no I don't quilt every day. I WISH I could quilt every day but sometimes I go months without quilting. That is why it usually takes me a couple of years to complete any project. I just discovered this site so you are getting the feast of several years of projects all at once. Now there will be a famine.

My two current WIP one is a queen size Mariner's compass that is all sandwiched and basted that I will probably start handquilting tonight. I know it will take me at least a year to finish, probably more. I will try and post a pic of it but it looks so awful right now with all those giant basting stiches criss crossing all over it.

The other is an all over stars pattern. The book I am using calls it Star Dancer. I think I may find myself a LAQ to quilt it for me. I don't feel confident enough with FMQ to attempt a project that large on my Bernina. But gotta try someday! So Star Dancer may just be my virgin voyage for FMQ on a big size.

Well that is just stunningly beautiful. You should be very proud, I can tell what an enormous effort that was. Great job!

Attic windows AND tumbling blocks?? You are a great quilter! I am impressed! I also love all your kitties in your quilts.

(I am afraid of set-in seams and have never tried them, but these are two very cool quilt patterns that I would love to try whenever I get my courage up.)

That is a fantastic quilt. I love it. Well, you've learned a lot and slowly. A good lesson for some of us that want to do more than we are experienced or knowlegeable enough to do properly the first time. I've wasted my share of $$$$ for that reason.

Stunning!!! I like how the blocks seem to pop up off the quilt!!! Love your quilting, too :D :D :D
