This is a Turning Twenty Quilt that I made for my neice's 21's birthday. It took me six days to complete, it would have been faster but life and work got in the way. I would recomend this for anyone needing a fast quilt.

Very nicely done!!! I think this will be what I will use for a pattern for my granddaughters first quilt....

Hey Loves,
That's it! That's the one I began cutting out week ago Monday when my mom had the heart attack, so now I've to finish cutting and begin sewing. Only took YOU six day? really? Ok, I'll work at it and see, it always takes me twice as long because of the back thing. Sure is beautiful! Looking forward to finishing the dark colors she wanted. I'm wanting sping and summer now, you know?? Sharon |
What a nice quilt! I love soft jewel colors! That pattern could make a great baby quilt too, like building blocks.
This is a dumb question, but why is it called "Turning Twenty?" |
Quiltmaker 101, I'm with you, I want to know why the pretty quilt is called "Turning Twenty Quilt" I've never seen this one before.
Pat B. from Indiana |
it was made from 20 fat quarters, type in "Turning Twenty Quilt" on your search enging and you will find mor information about it. the blocks are 16" finished, so it goes together very fast.

How did you quilt it?
|
stippled it my regular machine.

What a cheerful quilt! It's right up my alley, and is going on my list (you know, the one that's only 50 or 75 projects long!)
|
It looks like each block was out-lined in black, How did you achieve that? In case I did'nt mention it, Your quilt is very pretty, and it flows to me, very pleasing to the eye. Thanks so much for sharing, your beautiful work of art.

very pretty quilt. I have been wanting to make one of these but I'm not sure that I'd be able to pick out that many fq's that would look as good together as your does. I have only made 2 quilts so far and am working on a third. I have just stuck with 3 colors for each so far...but someday I hope to expand to lots of colors. I'm really new at quilting. I just started last summer but I plan on quilting for many many years so I have plenty of time to expand my horizions.

The black outline is the sun shining thru the quilt, I hadn't noticed it!!! As for the 20 FQs, my niece's fav color is blue so I choose the first blue and went from there. I tried to make sure there were some accent colors and not all blue. Kalee LIKED it for sure.

Its wonderful. Blue is one of my other favorite colors. I'm with country quilter it will make a good first project for my grand daughter. If I know her it will probably be pink purple and blue just like granma

Really beautiful. Your color choses are great. 6 days...that sounds like a miracle to me!!

I sort of made one, went off on my own, called it 62 lol :D

It looks good.. Everything lines up perfectly...I think she will love it...

Ruth  I like it! Very colorful. Think I could come up with a "58"? LOL
I have 7 of these Turning Twenty quilts under my bed right now. My mini-group made them for charity and we haven't passed them out yet. I'd rather store them on the bed, but I sure don't want something spilled on them by one of my g-kids! They're drawn to quilts like moths to light! :D I love this pattern. You can make it up in a weekend. Well, the top anyway! |
the turning twenty pattern is really easy,if "work" doesn't get in the way or anything else for that matter, you can easily finish the top in a few hours, like she said it takes 20 fat quaters, make sure they are true fat quaters,I made a one out of asian fabric, but some of the fat quarters ,after I washed them, shrunk so bad the is was no longer a true fat quater,so I ended up using the equivilent of 36 fat quarters,Which is why you always prewash your fabric.
|
Your niece is going to love that!! The colors are so pretty together. I have a friend who got me started quilting using this pattern (unfortunately is is still a WIP). I hope to finish it after Christmas. It is a fun pattern! You did a great job!

I can't believe this. Recently, at a quilt show I saw a beautiful quilt made with sectioned blocks using a variety of floral fabrics. It was labeled "Turnkey Twenty." I have been on the web about 10 times doing searches for the pattern. I came to the Quilting Board this morning with the intention of asking if any of you had heard of it. Before I got that far I saw this post. LOL So now I wonder if I read it wrong at the quilt show or if it was labeled wrong. No matter. I am soooooooooooooo happy to have found it! :-o :D
Thanks Belinda for bringing the thread back up & thanks Love 2 Quilt for the original pic. Lin - did your quilt group ever finish those charity ones? I'd love to see pictures of others any of you have made. |
Yes, they're finished, folded and being stored under one of my beds right now. I think we're going to decide where to distibute them at our next gathering in Nov. Not that I don't like taking them out and looking at them now and then, but I think they'd be better served elsewhere. :D
I'm not sure if any of the ladies even got a picture of them before they handed them over to me. I need to get pics of them so they can have them, don't I! If I get some before we hand them out, I'll post them. They're all so different! |
very pretty colours

Nice quilt
Turning Twenty is a great GO-TO quilt pattern |
Gorgeous quilt. Love the blues.

That. Is very pretty. I have one cut out, but have not yet put it together.
|
One of the LQS offers what she calls Turning Twenty Bundles. There will be 20 fat qtrs of one line of fabric that all go together. Sometimes they are on sale for less than $30 bundle. I have a couple in my stash right now that I bought on sale for some future project. The Turning Twenty and Turning Twenty Again are nice patterns and they go together so fast. I have one ready to quilt that I made out of flannel for my grandson. Hopefully I will get that done before Xmas.
