Twin Sisters blocks

I wanted to see if 4 blocks would tessellate and the do BUT not when you sew them to make a square. Oh well, I'll put sashing between them and add them to the orphan block box.

I think those nestle very well together. Nice job! I like the earthy green color. It was the main color in the very first quilt I ever made...after I took a class! Very calming color choice!

to me they look like the tessellate

what Tartan was saying is that when you sew the 1/4" seam, they no longer tessellate

Yep, the match well until the last seam to connect the squares, then they look weird as you can see. I think I will sash them with this green patterned with a dark green corner stone in the center. What do you think?

I just added sashing to make a 12-1/2 inch blocks and I will add it to my Arrow block in the orphan/trial block box. I do all my trials in the same colour family and when I have enough, I will do a charity sampler lap quilt. It doesn't look too bad.

I like to see other people experimenting with blocks, which I do all the time.

Looks good, but not what you'd hoped. Orphan blocks here turn into placemats, bags, and that type thing.

You could make the rail fence blocks out of the two colors & connect four of them to look like that. Just a thought.
