Twister Table Runner

3 Attachment(s)
I got a new Twister ruler at the Long Beach Int'l Quilt Festival and couldn't wait to try it out. These are so much fun! Once again, starch is your friend with these bias edges : )

44.5" x 15"

Love the twister table runner!!! And the colors are great! What pattern did you use for quilting?

BrendaK 08-04-2012 03:43 PM

Very pretty. Was there a lot of wasted fabric? I have the small twister but have not made anyhting with it as I have heard people say that you waste a lot of fabric. Thank for any information. BrendaK

No pattern, just my own free motion doodling.

There is some waste, that's why I used some leftover scraps on the back. The rest I threw into my scrap bin in case I ever decide to do applique. There's not as much waste with the Lil' Twister, which is also fun. Give it a try!

It is wonderful the way it flows. I just noticed that I have that same lilac fabric...second time this week I have seen it in a post online! :)

That is beautiful! I love the color! and it is so beautifully quilted - very nice...

Your tablerunner is gorgeous! I'd like to add that the waste on the Lil Twister cuts into great little 2 inch squares (a little off grain) for Bonnie Hunter's "leaders and enders." I'm sure you could cut larger squares from the big twister. I guess it's all in how you define "waste." LOL

I noticed that about this beautiful fabric, too... I LOVE lilacs! This Twister is precious!

Great idea! I hadn't thought of leaders and enders. The bigger Twister scraps are about 4-4 1/2 ".

Pretty, pretty, pretty!!

nannyrick 08-05-2012 10:07 AM

Oh I love this table runner. I too have the little twister but have not used it yet.
Looks rather complicated to me. Probably is not but I,m still waiting to use it.

chickadeee55 08-05-2012 10:18 AM

So you do need a special ruler to do the Twisters! I saw one at the last quilt show I went to and a lady there told me you don't need a ruler.

Yours is very nice.

wolph33 08-05-2012 10:21 AM

looks great as a runner.

Helen S 08-05-2012 11:31 AM

I'm not fond of the twister design for some strange reason, but this is the first one I've seen that I LIKE...in fact, I LOVE it, and the quilting is gorgeous! Nice job!

Z Any Mouse 08-06-2012 10:50 AM

Thank you so much for all your kind words!

Thank you! I think you can make this without the Twister ruler, but you'd have to make a template and cut around it. The ruler is nice because the little feet at the corners raise it up over the cross seam, and there is no sliding around when cutting.

HillCountryGal 08-06-2012 11:13 AM

Very nice! Love your color choices. :)
