Twister wallhanging

2 Attachment(s)
Here is the little twister wallhanging that I just finished. An online friend got me this kit for Christmas. I really like it but I thought it wasted a lot of fabric!! Now I have to decide how to quilt it.....any ideas? The other picture is of the scraps left over after cutting.

Often people cut and use the left over fabrics for the border.

very cute-great colors

It is beautiful. You could take the scraps and make a crazy scrappy table runner.

Really cute!

Lovely colors and I would think an overall quilting would be very nice.

I love your Twister wallhanging. As others have mentioned, use your scraps for a border or a couple of matching placemats or mug rugs.

Love your fabric choices.

I agree... the colors are super! I think all-over quilting would really suit it.

My Twister tool just came & so far I find the printed directions really confusing (you only put borders on 3 sides? Huh?). Am I alone in that thought? I may look on You Tube & see if there is a tutorial. I learn better by watching.

Please post again when this little gem is all done!

Oooh, I love this twister wallhanging, the fabrics are gorgeous. I am a twister fanatic and have 3 ready to cut up and sew back together again. I use the scraps for mini projects because I foundation pieced and ANY left over scraps are perfect for them.

sewbeadit 04-03-2012 11:19 PM

I don't see it as fabric waste. I use those pieces for all sorts of things. Your quilt turned out great.

wow beautiful colors

I finished one not too long ago. I stitched around each pinwheel with regular thread, then I did like a flower petal in each spoke of the pinwheel in metallic thread.

i Think that's why they came out with the mini twister tool... rejoin those scraps and make a mini twister.
I quilted mine with a continuous curve (orange peel/orange slice)

The quilt is darling. Yes there is a lot of waste. Do you crazy quilt. Or take a foundation of a very light interfacing and stich your scraps to that. You can then cut a border from that.

I had to put the border on all 4 sides.

Love how yours turned out. I've had the twister tool for several month now but haven't tried it. Not liking the idea of so many scraps left over. Thanks for sharing that part too. Good heads up.

I love the rich colors..very, very nice!

Floralfab 04-04-2012 11:44 AM

Your twister wallhanging is great. Really nice colors. Maybe you could use the scraps for the border. Check U-tube as I did see a tute on using the twister.

I took the scraps from a twister table runner, cut them into small squares and made nine patch coasters. You did a great job! I can't tell what size twister tool you used, but if your scraps are bigger, you could also made potholders or mug rugs. They make great gifts. The main thing is just to cut into squares for these ideas.

lollygagging 04-06-2012 09:15 PM

I see a lot of yo-yo's in those scraps! I love your color choice. Thanks for sharing.

Jammin' Jane 04-18-2012 11:03 AM

I would definitely use the scraps in some kind of a border...maybe piano keys?? :)
It looks great!

Love your twister quilt! Love the colours and I agree that there is a lot of wastage but what a lovely looking quilt though!
