I finished these 2 tops today. these go together so fast! still need to sandwich and quilt. Should get done tomorrow with that part.
Question: Can I use poly batting (i have some stashed from before I knew about cotton) or does it have to be cotton batting (dont have any on hand)? Secondly, I don't have many colors of thread, but i have a grayish blue I was going to use on the blue one and the only color I have for the yellow one is red. Do you think the red will be ok? Probably going to SID and maybe add a few diagonal lines if it isn't quilted enough after SID. Thanks for the help. |
beautiful tops. I usually use a thread that blends or one that contrasts. Good luck and great job.

Wonderful. I am working on one as we speak!

Arent they fun? Knowing it will help someone in need.
I want to finish them so i can get on to my storm at sea and jacob's ladder. i have enough fabric for both saved in stash for a rainy day (money rainy day). |
Very nicely done. I like them both very much. QFK does ask that you do a lot of machine quilting - they recommend the spacing be every two inches, which would be a few diagonal lines through the 6" blocks. Make sure you even quilt in the outer border. the only reason they ask for so much quilting is that they put them through industrial washing machines every day at a hospital.

Jenniepenny: thanks for the help. That's what I will do. Forgot about the big squares. I haven't done a design like this since my first. It was a Yellow brick road.
And thanks to everyone else too!! :) |
They are both so cute! Great job!! :D :D

Great job. These are so much fun!

I have one that I need to finish. I think I have had it more than 4 weeks already but we had an emergency in the family and have not been able to quilt at all since the first of March. Love the material they gave you.

As long as they are heavily quilted, the poly batting should be just fine...these do get washed a lot
They are both so cute!!! :D:D:D |
