Here is the quilt I call "Leaving California" because I started it in California, and finished it here in my new home state, Florida. It is from McCalls Quilting magazine (cover photo) I think it was October 2001's issue.

The other quilt is a quick 9 patch I made from my purple stash and a gorgeous hydrangea print from the Old Paris line that was out in 2004.

Enjoy.

really nice I love the flower prints remind me of a lilac print I had. I always had an urge to smell it. I'm not a purple person but I love yours. Your really good

Rebecca Chambley 04-12-2007 06:41 AM

BEAUTIFUL................

isnthatodd 04-12-2007 09:09 AM

I agree with Ruth, it does remind me of lilacs. And the pattern is simple, but very effective! I sometimes get carried away with too many pieces and lose the thought. To use one of the new adjectives, it is geeeeorgeeeeous. (I think I got enough es in).

Those are really nice. You do good work. I like the one with the leafs. The purple one is also nice. I like the idea that is is so simple but your choice of fabric really makes it.

ButtercreamCakeArtist 04-12-2007 01:38 PM

Well, I have to agree. YOu do BEAUTIFUL work! I love them both, but the purple one is my favorite of the two. :D I guess it's because it's spring time. :D
;)

live2teach 04-12-2007 02:18 PM

Those are both very pretty. You did an excellent job. My favorite is the leaf quilt. I love Fall...especially Fall colors and this is beautiful...they both are.

Celeste 04-12-2007 03:56 PM

Ooooh!

First, glad to see some of your work, and second, I love them.

Like Heather, (live2teach) I love autumn, but I also love the to me, relaxing coziness of the purple.

Country Quilter 04-12-2007 04:29 PM

The colors you used in both quilts are extremely remarkable! They are both beautiminous! (new word for that other topic!) LOL

ceannastahr 04-12-2007 07:40 PM

there both absoulutly beauitful I vote for the purple one of favorite colors

quiltmaker101 04-13-2007 05:44 AM

Thank you everyone for the applause!

I am so proud of my quilts, being that I am mostly self taught! It is nice to have fellow quilters to share ideas and pics with.

I hope to someday produce quilts like I have seen from others here. I am terribly intimidated by curves, applique and embroidery.

Thanks again!

I wish I could quilt like that too. I pay someone to quilt mine! LOL

Gayle 10-31-2007 09:27 AM

It's beautiful!!! (I did mean the whole quilt, not just the quilting.)

danna738 10-31-2007 09:41 AM

My Aunt Violet would absolutely love the second quilt. She has had a "violet" room in every house she has ever lived in.
Both your quilts are gorgeous!

Quiltmaker:
Both your quilts are gorgeous. I think I have the bear paw pattern you used. Will have to dig out my old magazines and check it out. Definately something I'd like to try after seeing yours. Good job, thanks for sharing.

Those are both very nice Wendy!!! I have been collecting leaf patterns for paperpiecing but haven't done anything with them yet!! Thanks for the inspiration!

dakotamaid 02-07-2010 10:32 AM

Just cruising thru older posts, don't feel like sewing today (?) and found your beautiful maple leaf quilt. I've been collecting leaf motif fabrics for 5 years, you have inspired me to start making the blocks.! :-D

johnette 02-07-2010 11:44 AM

I love them both. Excellent!!

sylvia77 02-07-2010 12:53 PM

Gayle, You can. These patterns are not hard to do at all. If you're intimidated by color choices, then just find a picture of a quilt that you really like and use those colors. I still struggle trying to find just the right color combinations but I find a quilt that I really like and use those same colors. Maybe that will help you too.

sylvia77 02-07-2010 12:54 PM

These quilts are beautiful. My favorite color is purple and I had some of that exact fabric. Good job.

lots2do 02-07-2010 01:12 PM

Nice work!

Sharon - NC 02-07-2010 03:27 PM

They're both really nice. The top one is my favorite - because the colors are "my" colors. I love purples and blues and greens. Nice work!

sylvia77 02-07-2010 04:02 PM

I reread what you'd written and I missed the part where you said you're a rookie in regards to quilting. Opps. Disregard what I said earlier.
