U.B.E. QAYG Orphan blocks/partial blocks finished
5 Attachment(s)
Thanks so much for inspiring me to finish it. I wanted to add a solid green border to it, but decided on this because it was also leftover from another project, so instead of cutting up a large chunk of solid green, I decided to use this fabric.
Yesterday U.B.E.s were discussed, (ugliest blanket ever) made out of leftover partial blocks or orphan blocks. Well, I had been compiling mine for quite some time, and decided to just add to them til I had something larger than 16", then trim them wonky, and make a QAYG out of them. I finished a little while ago. Anyway, it's not particularly pretty, but it has character. You will see practice machine embroidery, (I added a loon to the middle spot of a big white empty spot), paper piecing and of course, orphan blocks. Some were given to me. I don't know if anyone will actually want this quilt, but I can certainly add it to my charity quilts that we give away every Christmas time. If not, it does have meaning to me. :) |
great job! I need to get the UFOs out of the closet and finish.

You did a nice job on those. thanks for sharing. I would sure like to snuggle under one of those! They should really be enjoyed by someone.

I like it!

You made a very nice quilt out of 'leftovers'. I like it a lot - great job! A lot of variety to look at.
|
Well, personally, I like it, a lot to look at. I have so many orphans....I need to just dig in a get going!
|
You just gave me an idea. I think I will purposely make an extra block of every quilt of mine from now on and stitch them together as I accumulate them. It will be a fun memory of each of my quilts! And I think yours is very attractive!

This is an awesome idea. I love your quilt too! I may need to start working on one for me :)

For example, the 2 patriotic baskets were given to me by someone who made several in different colors. The only ones NOT in pastels were these 2. So, since I live in Poland, I didn't think patriotic were exactly in the biggest demand, I made the quilt top (charity) out of the others, since it worked out well anyway. That left these two. That's one example of how it happened that i had so many leftover blocks. |
It has a lot of charm.
