UFO completed in time for the 4th of July

1 Attachment(s)
I started this quite a few years ago-maybe 7- and always thought I would make more blocks to make it throw or bed quilt size. Realizing that it wasn't going to happen, I decided to add some borders and get it finished in time for the fouth.

The original pattern is "Anniversary Stars" from Evelyn Sloppy's book 40 Fabulous Quilts, c. 2005.

Finished with the binding today and had the help of my DH to get it hung in it's place of honor.

Happy 4th of July everyone!

You just gave me an idea! I have that book, too (don't you LOVE it?!?!) & I make QOV's, so that would be a perfect fit. This quilt is just spectacular & perfect for the 4th! Kudos on finishing a UFO!

Very nice wallhanging, looks like it belongs there. Always nice to get a UFO completed.

audsgirl 07-03-2012 10:38 PM

You did a fantastic job on this quilt! It's a very good choice for a patriotic quilt. I'll have to check my copy of the book to see how she had done hers. This would be hard to beat!

IraJane 07-04-2012 03:10 AM

The sample in the book is in shades of Kansas Troubles light and dark golds. I have that one made in a double bed size, except for borders and finishing. That should be my next completed UFO. :)

I made one adjustment in the pattern, making sure that the Ohio Star block was completely split diagonally with the red and blue.

Thanks for all the kind comments. It feels so good to have finished it and have it hanging.

That's a beautiful quilt!!

lollygagging 07-12-2012 12:22 PM

I love the simplicity of it. I also love the white against the blue and red. Kudos for making your deadline and thanks for sharing.

Greenheron 07-12-2012 01:04 PM

Those colors look outstanding against the natural wood, aside from the quilt itself being so lovely. The subtile blending of colors is masterful.

Thanks. I love to make solid appearing areas just as scrappy as I can. I never know what the word is to describe that but texture, depth, those sort of things are added to it for me. I also rarely ever use a solid fabric. White is always a white on white.

Jammin' Jane 09-19-2012 11:15 AM

OOhhh! That's pretty! I love it! :)
