A UFO finished: Daiwabo 'round the world

I found the flimsy in the midst of housework. I put it aside early last year when we were getting ready to move. I think I made the flimsy in 2010. The green and multicolored daiwabo fabrics were remnants. I used every smidge of everything except the pink, including 3 beiges. I probably spent longer figuring out the layout than sewing the flimsy. My original plan was to do floral FMQ, but I decided that would detract from the fabrics.
BTW, daiwabo is an African fabric. The name means "sun cloth", as the dyes are set by sunlight. The quality of these fabrics is comparable to good batiks.

I will turn it in for our quilt show (as display only) next week. I am not sure where this one is going. I am not putting it up for sale, but If someone offeres to buy it, I may sell, otherwise, it will probably go for a charitable use.

Lovely! The time you spent laying it out certainly paid off. I love it! Thanks for showing and explaining it.

Thank you. I also love African fabrics. Purple is my favorite color, so this combo worked well for me, even though it is very simple.

Very pretty quilt -- however, those aren't Daiwabo fabrics.

Daiwabo fabrics are high-end Japanese screen prints made by Daiwabo company, in Japan. Daiwabo prints and distributes under their own name, they also print the Cara Collection Serenity Daiwabos for EESchenck company.

I think the translation for African Sun Cloth most frequently used is Langa Lapu.

Very nice quilt.

I do love these fabrics.

These fabrics were labeled daiwabo and came from Africa. One peculiarity of language is that the same sounds may mean different things in different languages. Sam, for example, means "third happiness" in Chinese, according to my Chinese neighbor.

The quilt is lovely. But what does "flimsy" mean?

I've wondered that, too, but I'm guessing it means "quilt top". I love this particular little top!

Looks wonderful! Nice job! :)

Thank you all.
The marvelous LQS where I got the fabric is now gone, both owners having terrible degenerative diseases.
Flimsy, as a term for an unquilted top is one I first met on the board and really like.
