I'd like to send a quilty hug to the ladies here who recently bartered for scraps with me, or were happy with postage paid.
I quit buying fabric in 2001. I still love every piece of fabric I have but truly, my colors are a little dated! So I've cut those new treasures of scraps down to 2.5", 2", and 1.5". Ooo, thanks so much! I don't think aqua and oranges were even on the shelves back then! Yellows were really difficult to find. I've been making these little 6.5" blocks for the last couple of weeks..look at those darling 2.5" fussy cut centers. Is quilting fun or what!! (If any of you have listened to the Chet and Bernie books you'll know the inflection on 'or what'!!) |

lots2do, with the exception of Bonnie Hunter's mystery I never start with a pattern. I start with a chunk of fabric on the working wall and build out from there. There is nothing new under the sun though. It is some kind of 9 patch in the center and flying geese with more squares in the current outer border.
When working with pieces as small as 1" finished, there has to be some kind of continuity though or the whole block/quilt just turns to mud. so the center 9 patch has the same neutral in four places and in the next round the flying geese have a common neutral. |
those are darling!
