I found this in my EQ5 and I want very much to make it. However, I cannot find instructions for what sizes to cut the fabric. In the EQ5, it is called Double Windmill.
I have tried looking online and have not had any success. Does anyone have a link, or maybe just instructions to tell what sizes to cut the pieces? Thanks so much. |
I would print one off and cut it up. Cut your fabric larger than that for the seam allowances. Just a thought:)

What is an EQ5? That pattern would be really pretty when made. Hope you find an answer. :) Good luck

I think i would paper peice this. I found an example of what it would look like.

I have EQ7 and this looks like the foundation piecing setup for the Card Trick block. What section of the block library did you get the block outline from?

mltquilt I do not know how to paper piece. Have never thought of it. |
In EQ5:
Block Worktable File Foundation Pattern There are 3 tabs. Numbering/Sections/Options In Options you can set the size of the block. The Sections & Numbering info should already be set to a correct default so you shouldn't have to play around with them unless you want to. You can preview how it will look until you get it right before you print it out. This block is pieced with FOUR 5-piece foundations around the smaller center block. That's done with partial seam sewing. Once that whole center is complete, then you put the corner HST's on. It's a very, very cool block. One of those "how she'd to that?" kinda blocks. However, the coloring default from EQ for this block is ....vomit inducing. Blech. |

Back to the block worktable. File Rotary Cutting You'll have the option to set the block size. If you don't like Rotary Cutting, then choose Templates. Again, you'll have the option to set the block size. This block is in the Block Library. Came right up in a search. |

This is how I would paper peice this block. the red line is where you would attach section A to E to start with, until you get D section attached. Then you can sew the rest of A to F and D to A. Finally adding the F triangles to the corners.

Thanks to everyone for all the information. You have opened up some new doors for me.

This was posted on the Quilters Newsletter blog.

I love the block

I think A4 and C4 are missing a peice though.
|
Looks very nice, but you must have to put it together with partial seams.

I noticed that after I posted and was playing around with the block. I think it looks very disjointed when put together like that. But if you want do it the same way as the the photo (blue quilt) you posted upthread, pieces B4/B5 and D4/D5 get combined into one piece to create a smoother flowing connection between the blocks. So ALL four sections would only have 4 pieces. Another option is to ADD the piece (5) to the A&C sections. It flows a bit better. Interesting block, with a multitude of options, especially when you start playing around with value placement. |
If you draw, trace or copy the pattern, you then can cut the pattern apart and measure each piece, I think.
Looks like 4 sections of the block for basically the same? INteresting and would be a great block made up in BATIKS! Havenot seen this one before. Julie  |
Yeah I like the added extra peice. But that is just me. If you cut apart the block and just repeat the section you like four times you will be good since they are all the same. Yes the partial seam for A to E is a must to avoid a set in seam. Very nice block.

The four sides aren't the same -
Wonder if that was intentional or an oversight? |
Yes, I noticed the missing pieces too. I will be adding the extra ones.
I was able to print the instructions out with the help of someone here. It will be a 12 inch block. Have already started cutting the fabric. A friend of mine showed me how to do partial seams, so I think I am on my way. |

Okay, this is what it will look like. I will be making two triangles for the red. I know that might sound odd, but it will be easier sewing, and less confusing for me. I plan to call it "Semi-Precious" because it looks like jewels to me.
