Tippydog what a lovely quilt. It looks like a lot of work with all the applique. So cute! Did you design it?

What a lovely quilt filled with happy colors. You have some fun quilting design ideas already. Have fun and show us when you are done!

That is sure to become someone's special quilt. Good job.

I wish I had designed it! I have all these designs in my head, but can't seem to translate them to a quilt yet! It is a design by Claire Turpin (Australia) called "Unicornia". I really loved making this quilt top, it was a lot of fun. I would make another if I had someone to give it too!

Super quilt for a girly! You could do clouds for one of the castles. I would do diagonal wavy lines on the running purple unicorn.

I was planning on clouds in some of the castle blocks, and was also thinking of maybe quilting an outline of a castle tower in the background on one of the castle blocks, still mulling that over. The diagonal wavy lines is a great idea!

I am a big fan of echo stitching for this type of top. I would then do some sort of decorative stitch along the seams or down the center of sashing. I would probably use my favorite stitch - a curvy line with a tiny leaf. I think that would be all the quilting it would need. That is a very lovely top. I am sure she will love it!

That's so cute, and she's going to cherish it, no matter how you quilt it.

If it were mine, I'd stitch around each motif so that the design shows up on the back. I like seeing someone discover the "aha!" moment when they realize that the back has "pictures" on it. I would add a star or moon in any space that's too big to leave alone (so that the batting doesn't bunch up in the wash), but mainly keep the thing puffy with simple contouring.
