I stumbled across a way to strategically remove the needle holes on batik fabrics left by "unquilting!" The AquaDoodle pen! I took some before and after pictures to prove it!

The AquaDoodle pen filled with water

Clever idea. Where did you get the pen.

Check the toy department of any store that carries toys. My son has a mat that he uses his on.

Thx for sharing. Is the pen ingredients all water?

lrdesignsquilting 10-13-2011 06:07 AM

I was able to buy the pen as a separate item, saved me from having to buy the whole thing!

Dabbing with a clean wet sponge or washcloth will do the same thing.

Would love to see more pictures of this project you are working on. Looks beautiful and your quilting that you did decide to keep looks very intriguing.

Those will work, too. I usually use a spray bottle but just wasn't sure about these batiks. This quilt is finished and you can see the pictures on my post titled Celia's Block Party Quilt. Thanks for the positive comments!

I would imagine washing the quilt would do the same thing...

It'sJustMe 10-13-2011 07:21 AM

Wow...but is it just water?

lrdesignsquilting 10-13-2011 07:29 AM

Yes, just water!

I use water all the time... wash clothes work great.
Enjoy

Thanks! Your tip came just in time. I just unquilted two rows of quilting and was getting ready to spritz it. I think I like this idea better.

Kitsie 10-13-2011 09:12 AM

That's cool! I've always used cotton swabs, but they can get linty.

You could wash the whole quilt as Candace says, but this enables you to fix it as you go.

fabric_fancy 10-13-2011 09:40 AM

washing the quilt or using a small wet sponge does the job too and most people have these items in their home already

I use one of these sponge bottles for 'licking' envelopes. I like the straight edge on the sponge and holds plenty of water.

Great tip.

Do you think it would work on white fabric? My king size quilt that the LAr screwed up and had to take the quilting out left all the stitching holes in the white-on-white dot.
