Upcycled slippers!

So mom was going to get rid of these felted old sweaters she had been using for mittens, so I took her too big boxes of sweaters, found a YouTube video on how to make slippers with sweaters, and made these! They’re the warmest pair I’ve ever made! :)

Can you give us more info on the YouTube video? The slippers would make great presents, and they look comfy! Good work!

Wonderful save on the wool sweaters, LogCabin82!

What a great idea!

They do look comfy and warm. I have a friend who makes mittens from wool sweaters she buys from thrift stores, felts them in hot water, lines them with fleece and hands them to homeless people or those begging on the streets. She has made dozens.

Sure! :) Here is the link! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdNqnkWBK3w

They run small so I went up a few sizes to get the correct fit. I made one with liners and three without. When you add the liner it makes it real thick and a little tricky to get through the sewing machine.

I've never seen slippers from upcycled sweaters, those are so cool 😎. I have seen in plenty of the mittens at craft fairs from thrift store sweaters. Thank you for sharing what you made. And the link. 👍

They’re fabulous, love the fabric!

I love them. I wished I had some felted wool sweaters to make some. I bet they are wonderful.

Do any of your slippers have the little sticky dots or wiggly lines so they are safe on hard floors? I know in another life and other times, I would buy fabric with the grippy "stuff" for the soles of slippers. I haven't watched the whole video yet. Perhaps it is mentioned there.

Perfect idea to repurpose sweaters and to keep our toes toasty on cold Michigan days and nights. ;)

These ones don't have grippies, but she does have a seperate video on how to add them to your socks.

I don't think the seam allowances are included in the patterns, because they're sizing seems off, so the next pair I'm adding seam allowances when I cut it, to see if that makes a difference. My mom usually wears a wide 7, and I made a men's 13 and it was still too snug, so I'm going to try again, but include seam allowances in.
