Here is the last of the 4 memory quilts. This one is made up of 3 1/2" blocks from scrub tops and 1/4 yds of fabric that her late friend would have loved. Originally there were 32 1/4 yards and 6 scrub tops that Laura brought for the memory quilts. I added a lot of semi solids and backing fabrics to this wild mix. Her best friend Dena was a nurse and she passed away 2 years ago.

This turned out to be a large lap size, not a king as I had thought.

The amazing news is that there were actually pieces leftover after making 4 memory quilts, and now Laura's son is about to marry Dena's daughter, so I gave Laura the scraps for a future baby quilt.

Dena would have loved being Laura's in-law.

Finished project. Has Footprints in the Sand fabric as borders and binding - both sides

Pieced back made up of leftover blocks, practice blocks and extra fabric plus 2 labels.

Very pretty. And the idea for the design board sounds very doable!

I like this one! Enough that I think I will 'earmark' the pattern for future reference. Did you take the pattern from a book? Or develop it yourself?

The pattern was on the cover of McCall's Quilting August 2007.

Be sure to show your pics when you have one made!
