Still not finished, but, I have gotten a lot sewn in the past week, but, still have a lot to go. Hubby wants this one and he wants it for our KING size bed, wouldn't you know it???? So, you can see in one of the pics of the top on the bed, I am not close to being finished. Not sure if I want to add more spikes, add more single blocks, or, add some curved flying geese. What do think would look good???????? He wants it on point, (this is the first on point quilt top I have attemped and he doesn't know the work that goes into them) he likes the way it looks, so, that's what he's getting. Hey, it's the least I can do for him, he NEVER, NEVER says anything about the material I drag in everytime I go to the store. He's a keeper.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on filling in the corners??? I can use all the help I can get.
Can't wait to hear your ideas.

OMG! That is beautiful. I have not been brave enough to try paper piecing yet, but will someday. I have such a Batik fetish. Every fabric store I go in to I have to go look at the Batiks. Such beautiful colors in your quilt. I just love it.

If I can do it, you can do it. This is my first PP quilt. Like they say........try it, you'll like it.

It's gorgeous! I love it! And I know so little about quilting that I can't offer any suggestions, except that a curved flying geese border sounds Really Cool!

That is gorgeous!!!!

I know how much work all those little blocks are, I'm working on the same kind of blocks for an exchange. My center is going to be 24"x24", so much smaller than yours, but my blocks are going to be 3 and 6". LOTS of little pieces, but it's worth it :)

ScubaK 08-26-2009 07:06 PM

That is gorgeous!
What pattern are you using and is it very difficult?

WOW, it's gorgeous!!!
I've had my hubby say he liked a quilt top I had made in lap size and asked if I could make it a queen. I'm still working on it. It put it away for 2 years and just pulled it out.

tlrnhi 08-26-2009 07:16 PM

Oooooo Ahhhhhhh gorgeous!!!! :D :D :D
Maybe some more of the same pp squares in those corners and then I love the idea of the curved flying geese wandering around the borders!!!!

Lisa T 08-26-2009 08:39 PM

STUNNING!! Wow, this is gorgeous!

You know, I have a king size bed...

hawghugger 08-26-2009 08:40 PM

here is the site that I got all the patterns from, they are FREE.

http://www.lenzula.de/pattern/free/nyb.php
this site also has other PP patterns.
The wildest part, they are not in English. But, if you can do the old paint by number kits, you can do these.
As for if it's easy. Yes it's really easy. When I printed them out, I printed only in black ink. It saved on the color ink and I didn't want the same colors as they showed. I found some more NYB blocks, but, since I can't read anything on their site either. I emailed them. I guess I will have to wait and see if they can read english and email me back.

Alaskasunshine:

Your hubby's words were about the same as mine. I love the way they don't hold back on their feelings. :-)

dizzy 08-26-2009 10:49 PM

great quilt an very good colors i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

katier825 08-27-2009 12:55 AM

That is so awesome! I have had these blocks on my own to do list for awhile. I probably won't get to them until I finish up Christmas presents. It always amazes me how on that pattern, no matter what colors are used, they always blend in so perfectly. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project!

rb. 08-27-2009 04:09 AM

Gorgeous! And thanks for the link. I'm about to embark on my fabric dying, and this is the perfect project for using up a bunch of different colours!

Bevanger 08-27-2009 04:53 AM

dizzy 08-27-2009 06:30 AM

I have agrandmas flower garden that i put to gether about 20yrs ago.My hubby said if we ever split up the quilt would have to be split in half.its got adouble batting in it.Ilived in Indiana at the time and we heatedthe house with wood stove.an there were plenty of nights it would go out before morning an that quilt kept us toasty warm.

alaskasunshine 08-27-2009 07:38 AM

I have to agree. HOLY CRAP that is cool. What an incredible looking quilt.

nellebelles 08-27-2009 09:12 AM

Going out on a limb here--what about doing some kind of applique for the corners? You could just use big triangles for the corners and applique swirls or spikey flowers or ??? It would add another design element to it, and soften the look a bit--if that's what you want.
It is a beautiful quilt just as it is though. Great job!

nativetexan 08-27-2009 09:49 AM

Oh i love her site. and love your quilt!!!!

SAHM 08-27-2009 09:57 AM

Amazing and beautiful quilt! WOW!

I have an idea for the borders...
first, maybe a thin border to separate.
then, I was thinking, what if you made a bigger spike in the corner of each corner? Do you know what I mean?? I think that would look so cool. Then a border (maybe a pieced border?) and voila.

Again, gorgeous!!!!

NorBanaquilts 08-27-2009 10:02 AM

That is one awesome quilt

SulaBug 08-27-2009 10:05 AM

I've never done PP but this gives me hope. Your quilt is gorgeous.

wvdek 08-27-2009 10:15 AM

OMGosh! this quilt is awsome! The colors are gorgeous and the design is incredible. Your talents are awsome.

Great job.

redquilter 08-27-2009 11:06 AM

The only idea I can come up with is that you can give it to me! Now THAT'S a GOOD idea, don't you think? It's absolutely stunning!

hawghugger 08-27-2009 11:12 AM

Redquilter,
That's a pretty good idea, but, you will have to take that up with Hubby.

Shemjo 08-27-2009 02:39 PM

BEAUTIFUL! Personally, I would use batiks and make more squares and just keep adding them to fill out the corners! The center is SEW beautiful, I would keep the focus on it and then use the pretty colors to fill out the rest. Then a spikey border, and for quilting, I would echo the spikes! This is drop dead gorgeous!

Teacup 08-27-2009 06:13 PM

I'm just an echo, but this quilt is fantastic. I'm glad your husband appreciates it and you are keeping it for yourself. It's one to be proud of!

littlehud 08-27-2009 07:40 PM

I have no suggestions, just praise. That is beautiful. I am in awe.

sash 08-31-2009 07:28 AM

That is just absolutely beautiful. I have been saving batiks and was looking for a project. I've always had trouble making the NYB block, but I think I might want to try this again. It's just too pretty. Thanks for posting. Georgeous.

Diane007 12-07-2012 07:51 AM

just love your colours

Quilter 65 12-07-2012 09:53 AM

I know we aren't supposed to envy, but I could almost do that. That is one seriously, well-executed, beautiful quilt top. So very, very pretty. Your husband has GREAT taste.
