Update: Under my needle
 

Stitched together three pieces of woven fabric from the Textile Museum (woven on their looms in the early 2000s) making a background. Woven top, batting and backing minimally stitched horizontally to mimic a flag. Added sleeve and binding then washed because the ultra suede said no washing and a test showed it bled into the white duck. Meanwhile the applique still shows white along the trimmed edge so satin stitch around the cut out piece and ready to pin into place and stitch down. Stitching through ultra suede, fabric glue, duck, woven top, batting and backing. My poor machine.
