Used a old wool blanket for batting

I don't know where the blanket came from, but it washed up nicely so I just used it for the batting. It was a little heavy, but it should be warm.

I didn't put on a border and I birthed the quilt and it worked out very well.

Looks good. As a child, I had one quilt covering an army blanket. (Spanish American war, as I recall)

How pretty is that.:)

My great-grandmother made them with old army blankets that her brother gave her. They were very warm. It was much nicer than having the wool exposed.

I made a simple quilt for my husband with camo on one side and a nice Calvin Klein brown striped sheet for the backing and an army blanket for the batting. It is nice and heavy and warm, but the fabric covering keeps the scratchy wool off you, as quiltingcandy mentioned.

I made a quilt using a blanket for the two sides of a window. The centre was normal batting. You could feel the difference, the sides were very heavy.

Well done!

Are you going to do any quilting on it?

I bought an antique wool quilt at an auction in Kansas and it was heavy and kept me warm for the time I spent in NYC and NJ.

Lovely scrappy, and great use of a wool blanket! Should be really warm! :)
