Using crayon is easy. Crayola has a big assortment of colors. Use a light fabric, and draw your design on with pencil first using a light box or tape to a window. I put freezer paper on the back side for stability. Start out lightly with the crayon then increase pressure to get the color blending you want. You will lose some of the intensity after heat setting. To set permanently cover colored block with a paper towel and heat seat with an iron-no steam for 10-15 sec. a couple of times; your done. Trace applique or coloring book designs or draw your own. Have fun. Moosegirl

are these regular crayons or do they make a special set for fabric?

Can this be washed like a regular quilt after you set it? What other care is needed?

I just LOVE love this board!

what a neat idea! I had never seen that before! I might even be able to get my daughter to do something for me. She's gonna be a starving artist. And does a real good job.

There are special crayons for fabric, but I have not used them. I have used Prang and Crayola crayons, and gotten good results.

That's an awesome idea... I'm thinking I could use that for a friend of mine. She has two small children, I could have them draw pictures, then just using sashing... Wonderful!!! thanks for sharing!

The fabric crayons I have seen are colored on paper first then ironed on to the fabric as a transfer and they work ok but it is extra steps. Moosegirl

What a great idea! Are they just normal wax crayons?
