These are mailable postcards, fabric on both sides, timtex in the middle and permanent ink. So they can be legally mailed, but also used as coasters or something when received. Some are better than others. I was trying out a technique by Linda Matthews that uses thread wrapped yarn as cording. Not the most economical method, but fun if you are into mixed media art. Some are paper pieced, some are fused, some are just random pieced scraps.

Love your postcards.......nice work!

Elisabrat 02-10-2011 12:08 PM

You forgot to ask for my address so you can send me one! Those are adorable. I wouldnt put a mug on it, its one of those items that you save and put out EVERY Valentines day. Very very pretty (seriously its ok if you send me one or all of them I wouldn't mind at all!)

Gwenny 02-10-2011 12:24 PM

Yes I agree with Elisabrat. We would love one in the mail.

purrfectquilts 02-10-2011 12:37 PM

I guess they are going to be a hit, after all. When I went to the post office to mail them, the clerk ordered one. Then the customer service lady at the bank also wants one. And Valentine's Day is not that far away. So I am thinking rather than mail those two, I might do Valentine's on one side and St. Patrick's Day on the other side. Although the post office just this week issued a ruling that no one could have personal items decorating their space. Hmmm.

So, since I am going to have to do this again, and you two were the first to mention it, Gwenny and Elisabrat PM me your address. I will pull 3 names out of a hat in addition to these two of any PM's I get. Just mention whether you would like Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day or Easter. I normally sell these for $10.95 so this is a nice giveaway to my friends on the QB. Enjoy.

Just to clarify, that is a total of 3 giveaways in addition to Gwenny and Elisabrat. Those 3 names will be pulled from a hat containing all the names of PM's I get. Fair?? Questions?? Cut off time midnight, February 11, EST. Will draw from all PM's by that time to send the 3. Ok?

brenda21 02-10-2011 12:39 PM

Gwenny 02-10-2011 01:31 PM

Oh how exciting. That is so kind of you. Will PM you my info. Thank you

purrfectquilts 02-10-2011 02:12 PM

You are welcome. I am wondering if we should do Valentine's since it will be past when you all get these or should we do something else?

jamsbuying 02-10-2011 03:08 PM

I love them!

M.I.Late 02-10-2011 07:52 PM

They are precious! You can really mail them? Do you iron the postmark to seal it after you receive it? Can you mail it if it's got designs on both sides? Don't you have to make one side plain enough for the post office to easily read the addresses? Have you mailed yourself one yet? I love, love, love, this idea. What size are they? How creative you are...

taiboo 02-10-2011 07:56 PM

Those are BEAUTIFUL....How in the world do you do them???

These are 4" x 6" and yes, you can mail them as long as they are not more than 1/8" thick and have the word "postcard" at the top on the back.

I have mailed such things many times and as long as you follow the rules, you can mail a bottle or a rubber plunger or other such things.

No you can't mail it with designs on both sides. Those are going to some local people that want them just to put on their desks.

purrfectquilts 02-12-2011 04:45 AM

We have done the drawing and sent PM's to the names drawn for their address. Have a great weekend!!

M.I.Late 02-15-2011 09:50 PM

Received my Valentine. On Valentines Day too. Hubby said WOW! LOOK AT THIS AWESOME CARD... Takes a lot to move him. It was talked about a bunch that day. They are sooo cute! Thank you for sending me one. Just love it. What a treat. Did they go over as well for you?

Gwenny 02-15-2011 11:25 PM

My card came today. Everyone at home and the postmaster fell in love with it and thought it was such a cool idea.
Thank You very much.

I would have liked to see the other side, minus the addresses or course. I have wanted to make these for ages and never did. It looks like I'm going to have to now!

I did not use this to make these post cards, but here is a sample of how a post card back could be.
