This quilt is for a granddaughter. I've had the fabric panel for several years and just could not decide how to use it. Then inspiration hit. The panel has the 23rd Psalm printed on it. I used some metallic thread to highlight the water, but it does not show up in the photo.

I also did free motion feathers on two of the borders. I don't think they are bad for first effort. And they were done on a Viking D1, not a long arm. I did draw the design onto the fabric with chalk, so I had something to follow. But, I lost sight of the line many times.

These show the feathers. If you enlarge the photos to 150% you will be able to see the feathers better, and all the mistakes.

Very pretty and meaningful too. I'm sure it will be treasured and loved dearly! Nice job.

Well, I just decided to do it. My stitches are definitely not even. This is where I would like to have a Bernina with the stitch regulator. Viking does not have that feature.

You should try it some time. If you draw your feathers, it is easier.

Thank you. They are not perfect, but they are done.

Thank you. Her mother and I made a quilt with photos on it for her high school graduation, but she wanted a quilt done just by me. So this is it. I am proud of her. She is in graduate school and will be a speech pathologist.
